Ask the Right Questions

You will stimulate thoughts on how to improve the way you are using your time.

Ask yourself -

  • What is the best use of my time right now?
  • What is the future impact of this activity?
  • Am I able to perform this task on my own?
  • Do I need to ask for help?
  • What else could I be doing better?
  • What’s working well right now?
  • What’s not working well right now? How can I change it?

The more you use this technique, you’ll amaze yourself on how quickly the answer will come to you and you’ll know what to try next.

Try this out

Pomodoro Technique

  • Switch off all distracting tools and devices or anything that distracts you easily
  • Set your alarm or timer for 25 minutes.
  • Cultivate a mental set before starting. Quite simply, you tell yourself literally what you will do next. Example - “In the next 25 minutes, I'm going to finish and proof-read this 2 page document and then post it on my website.”
  • Start the timer and get into the work flow state
  • Take a 5-minute rest between each 25 minute work interval and repeat the process several times.

Thanks for this awesome advice, Phoeby. I try to do something similar with my check off digital pad and alarms as well.
Brilliant!
David

Hope it is effective and helpful

Yes indeed, 'questions are the answer!' I first came across the Pomodora technique years ago and used it religiously. These days I used a modified version, but always using a timer. I work for 50 minutes and take 10 minutes off before starting again. ~Mark

glad to hear it works for you Mark!

Profound advice Phoebus! I will apply it in my daily work. Must admit I Am having some trouble allocating my time in a structured manner. I tend to get caught up too much in reading and responding to blog posts.
For 2 reasons. 1. I find so many interesting and Useful tidbits of info there and 2. I hate being discourteous. Seems to me people go to the trouble of creating a post I should at least read and like it.I really need to spend more time on the Formal training tho and I will.

Keep focused! :)

Ummm... I can see this helping me immensely. Thank you Phoeby... I can't see this working for me if I don't repeat this procedure... I need to make this a habit!

creating new habits, sounds like fun! :)

I will try that see if it improves my output
Thanks
Geoff

try try until you win

Once scheduled and successfully completed.the rewards are terrific!

In the past the unscheduled had no place... so i leave time every day for the unexpected... and it fills in quite well... no stress

Good one. We can add another question to the list above -
"Am I creating space for serendipity?"

Lol

The unexpected is often the most usable

Great post! And even better advice and encouragement for us all. Keep on pressing forward, and you will reach your goals.

TV is a time waster and encourages you to sit around doing nothing. Keep your brain and body active at a cruising pace.
Tom.

Could not agree more on this, Tirolith.

It is funny the way most people look at me when I tell them that I do not have televison !

Cheers :)

me too, no TV for 30 years.

20 years for me.

Cheers :)

This is great advice. I got up early this morning to start writing and my page is still blank. It's 2:55 PM. I'm getting ready to go on vacation to Florida, but I do NOT want that to be a distraction, I've told myself that I'm going to get up early each morning and dedicate at least 2-3 hours of content before I start my day. I absolutely have to. Thank you for posting this.

Kris

If I can do it, you can do it !
