Hello WA members, I have just done a check on my website for broken links and I have found that I have one. I have tried to fix this with brokenlinkcheck but does not look like it can be fixed.

What it is say is

Failed to open requested web page on your websiteThe remote website might be down or the webpage removed,

can anybody enlighten me, please.

I've heard that sometimes this happens when a site is deleted, and also if there is mixed content as well. Waiting to see what you find out and I hope you get it sorted soon, Phill!

Great question just reading comments learning

How does a link ger broke? Pardon my naivete but it seems like a link would work as long as the target site is there

1

I really do not know, as I said I just done a check.

but that is what it is saying - you may link to a site - then they may rearrange their site and you link is now broken - or they remove or rename the article - or their site is down.
it is worth a periodic review of your external links to make sure you visitors have a good experience, and google doesn't find too many broken links...

if the link is broken - visit the site and do a quick search - they may have rearranged the categories and it is a new url that is needed - or you go and find another site with better information...

When I click on the link it comes up blocked, it is on my review on a product. I went to the affiliate site where it is on, it's still there. So I really don't know what is happening.

you really need to sort that - make sure the url is the correct one for visitors rather than affiliates.
if you still struggle then get in touch with hte affiliate program support and they should be able to help you...
