GDPR: How to implement opting out of Analytics
5
One of the most annoying aspects of implementing the demands of GDPR on your website is providing your visitors with a way to opt-out of you gathering Google Analytics data on them.
I wasn't aware of this before discussing it with @vivekshankar here on WA.
The good news is that I found an absolutely brilliant web-page that explains exactly how to do it. I'm not going to explain how to do it here as I feel that would be trying to take credit for someone else's work.

Thank you for sharing this Phil - I better look into this too! There's so many things with GDPR, aren't there? My goodness! [roll eyes] Just when I think now I've got it, there's another thing! ;-) LOL!

It does seem to be a lot - that's why I appreciate Kyle weighing in and giving his opinion. If you've not seen it (and I'm sure you probably have), it's here: GDPR Compliance. Our Official Take. My personal take on it has been to realise that Google Analytics is no longer as useful a tool as it once was. After being hit by ad-blockers and being subject to the new GDPR regulations in Europe, we're not going to see half the traffic that arrives on our sites recorded.
That's why I'm now looking at alternatives with a view to removing GA from my site altogether. I've never been a fan of big data-collection by third-parties anyway. :)
Hi Phil
Thanks for the link - yes, I've seen it, but it can't hurt to post it again, somebody else who have missed it, may just see it. ;-) (Was chatting to somebody this morning who has totally missed the whole GDPR-buzz that was going on here on WA!)
I was also wondering how GDPR is going to impact our traffic - we will have to wait and see eh?
But I fully agree with you - I also prefer to have it all on board. Please keep us updated as to what you decide on and why - would love to hear!
