Hi all.

Time to panic!!!! I recently made a slight change to my website in the "Theme Functions" editor and now my website is no longer on the web and I can't even log into my website to reverse the changes.

Anyone in WA land that can help me get out of this mess? Much appreciated and thanks!

hey, i am new here. i just bought my domain name and choose a theme but i cannot log into my website. the page keeps loading and finally says "this page isn't working"

You don't have to panic. This happened to me several times. All I did was just close or exit then open again. This is technology and anything can happen anytime. I hope you backed up your website just in case. If you haven't done so yet, make sure you back it up as soon as possible.

Thanks man. The situation is resolved. Cheers!

Phil,

your site is up when I go tried it. You may have just messed up your WA log-in. Try the trick below (or above) wherever it is now

Hi all.

Thanks for your help and support. I'm not sure what's gone on here but all is good again and I'm logging in and updating. Didn't do anything (while I awaited replies) but it seemed to correct itself.

Thanks for your help.

Phil.

Phil, I just tried it and I got to the log-in screen. Hope you know your password :-)

Hi Phil,

try typing this in your browser bar

Open a support ticket & ask them to use their back-ups to re-install your site. You will need to give the a date though. If they say they can't do it, PM Kyle.

Going forward........always do a back-up or WP Export before making any changes.

Thanks John I'll try that. And I did do a back-up before I made the changes. Just unsure as to how to import the back-up when I can't login to my site. Thanks for your help.

I exported a back-up before I made the changes but how do I "Import" the back-up when I can't even log-in to my site?

firstly why can you not log into your site?

If you changed your password for WP-Admin then just go to your site address and add /wp-admin

Then log in as normal.
If you are still unable to log in then as you cannot edit your own PHP myadmin fields for Wordpress just create a new site with the same theme and just import your Backup (XML file i assume?) into the new site.

It's all working now thanks.

I think a fall back position may be to reset your computer to an earlier date when you know it was working correctly. Maybe someone else can verify that or have a better solution.
