OK, I have my pages or menu headers if you like ready with a picture and some content explaining what each section of the site is about.

What I want is for related posts

I'm still learning this, too, so I'll learn along with you! ~ t

This can certainly be done -- Here's a discussion thread on doing just that:

How do I get specific posts to appear on specific pages?

I have checked the box in quick edit for all my pages that says

"allow comments"

Once updated there is still no comments box on my page.

Is this because of th

It can be your theme. You may want to check in the WP Admin area if you have theme specific options. They override default WordPress settings. If you do have theme options, check them to see if they contain comment settings.

You can find these options under "Appearance". It can be named "Theme Options" and/or also include the name of the theme.

Sometimes these theme options are a new entry to the menu. They have their own tab just like "Plugins", "Appearance" and "Settings".

Quick Edit is a good way to make some quick changes. However, WordPress now disables comments on pages by default.

Go to "Edit" instead of "Quick Edit". If you scroll down beneath the editor, it will somewhere show a box called "Discussion". Put a check in the box where it says "Allow Comments". Update the page.

If you can't find the box, scroll up to the top and look at the right side for a tab called "Screen Options". Check "Discussion" and now you'll be able to see the "Discussion" box underneath the page editor.

Thanks Nicole.
Done that - the options are there in the settings and in screen options. I even wrote a test comment but this doesn't appear on the page when I go to view.

Did you write a comment directly in the WP Editor or live on your page? Plus, is it a page in draft or published?

Also check if comments are held in moderation and require approval. If so, you may need to approve your comment under "Comments" in the left WP menu.

Another thing you can do is to copy the URL of your page and load it in a different browser. This way you're not logged in as the WP admin. Only works if it's a published page, though.

If you want, you can give me the link and I'll leave you a comment to see if it's an admin issue and if you can receive comments at all.

Hi Nicole

I found it!
After doing everything you mentioned it still didn't pop up.
I found a customize button where the option to allow comments check box is. It seems that this them only recognises that particular check box and not the one page edit for some reason!

Thanks for all your help!

Yay, glad you found it! :)

Some themes do this. They have their own comment settings and they override any default WordPress settings.

I know some of them themes only support comments on the posts... and not the pages... maybe this is it?

What theme are you using?

Chris

I'm using Omega at the moment. The one Kyle uses on his training videos

Yeah I started off with that one too.. I think the comments only go for the posts on this one...

I changed my profile to enable comments on the pages

Hey Chris - sussed it in the end. You have to hit the customise button at the top of the page and check the box in there to allow comments. That seems to override the check bo in the edit page section.
