My First Day As a Wealthy Affiliate Premium Member
So, after a year of being a member here at Wealthy Affiliate, I finally decided to become a premium member.
Why did I wait so long?
Well, to be honest, I got very distracted with others aspects of my life, all of which ended up draining me of energy and money.
So, I'm ready to turn a new page and embark on building a new business that's sustainable within a community that seems very helpful.
I'm doing this blog as a way to track my progress to keep track of what I'm doing every week. I will probably update it about 2-3 times per week.
So, on to the good stuff! Here's what I did today, my first day as a Wealthy Affiliate Premium member.
Choosing a Niche & Buying a Domain
I'm really interested in the Natural Health and Healing niche, but I knew that was too broad. So, I decided to focus on one keyword herbal tea since I'm also a big tea drinker as well! My focus will be on helping people who want to improve their health with herbal remedies like herbal teas. Since Kyle says not to overthink the niche stuff, I decided to go for it.
I had been thinking about buying a domain in this niche for a while, even before I joined WA. My initial choice was "herbalteahealth. com" but I procrastinated and didn't buy it. When I went to Namecheap to buy it today, It wasn't available! Let that be a lesson to you, don't procrastinate when you're buying a domain.
I tried a couple of other ideas but they were taken. I eventually decided on "herbalteagoddess. com" which was available. Success!
Figuring the Hosting out
This was my first roadblock today. Namecheap completely changed their layout recently, so the instructions WA provides for customising the DNS info aren't that useful , so I was pretty confused.
But shout out to WA User Hansen Lin for his super helpful post on how to do it on the new layout. That's why I like being part of a community like this!
Website Build
I ended the day by customising the look of my site after going through some of the training modules here on WA. Here's a screen shot of my progress:
No content yet but I will tackle that another day.
All in all, I think it was a pretty productive day and I look forward to the journey ahead!
If you've read this far, thank you! Feel free to leave me any comments or tips in the comment section.
Light and Love,
- Pat.

Hey, glad you finally decided to join WA! You'll love it her, I do. Lots of friendly people in the community that want to do nothing but help! Sounds like you got a lot accomplished in a day. If you can get that much accomplished every day, you'll be well on your way!
I think you have a great niche too. I'm not a tea drinker (no offense), but there are millions of tea drinkers out there that I'm sure would find your site beneficial. You just need to target the right audience with good keywords and through social media. Your site layout looks pretty nice so far too, if you ever get stuck with WordPress just ask me. I know it very well and I'm pretty strong in web design (even though I'm one of the worst people you could ever meet with coding.) But luckily you don't need to know very much coding at all for WordPress.
I would be very careful of namecheap. I don't know why people use that instead of GoDaddy, I've heard bad things about it. Someone earlier on WA was complaining about terrible service they received from them, so just be on your guard! It's probably too late to switch now, but I thought I'd just give you that warning.
Anyways, let me know if you ever need any help with anything :)
