Hopefully this can be a source of motivation to others
As I've gone about my life, I've found that there are sources of both fleeting and lasting motivation. I see this to be important, as the true way to be successful here is to endure, and it is hard to endure without proper lasting motivation.
Money can motivate all of us, but is a unique motivational source. The problem with using money as a source of motivation when starting out at WA, is that it takes time and a lot of work to see money related success. Sure, once you get to the point where you are making a fair amount of money consistently, it's easy to be motivated by seeing more money come in daily. Again, the problem is that this doesn't happen for a while.
There are two sources of motivation that I believe to be more valuable to us all: Knowledge and value.
It's recommended here that you choose a niche that is of interest of you. This pertains to knowledge as a source of motivation. I think we all have experienced a time in our lives when we found something we loved and just had to learn all that we could about that topic. By choosing a niche that interests you, you've got the lasting power of obtaining knowledge that will fuel you every day.
The second source and the one that I believe is most motivating, is providing value to others. A great example is introducing people to this website. Seeing people get excited when they realize that they've just discovered a life-changing opportunity is so rewarding. What is great about WA, is that here we have an opportunity to provide value to others. I know that if you keep this in mind when choosing a niche, writing content, and everything else you do here, you will stay motivated knowing that you are creating value and helping others.
Remember, find pleasure and joy in gaining new knowledge every day, and use that knowledge to create value for others. Money is just a byproduct of value. It'll come as a result.

Great blog post. You're right. Money can be motivating, but we are selling to people on the other side of this screen. And we can't treat them like they are just a source of money to us. They'll know! Because the writing comes off differently. I'm speaking from experience of being that money-motivated writer when I first started. Now I realize how truly satisfying it is to help someone and provide them a solution that they were looking for.
Yeah! I glanced through your blog posts here on WA and it sounds like while you've been here a while, you had taken some time off! It's good to have you back! :)
I've had a blast telling other people about WA. It's been so great being here!
Thanks for your blog Peter.
Money, as an extrinsic motivator, many times can blinker us to the needs of others in our drive to succeed, but when we're motivated intrinsically by something like, as you mention, knowledge and values, we're more concerned with success for all parties.
Thanks Peter:)
If you have a second, I'd appreciate your feedback on a SA article I just wrote - 'Zip Up The Front'. It was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but serious at the same time! I take feedback very well, so please don't hold any punches.

Awesome post and you have spot on with the way you portray making money 'your only goal'. Honestly, I see this all the time and it usually takes people completely out of the business world.
The reason? There are lots of no money success required to reach your first money success. If you can't accomplish things and work hard without seeing instant money results, you are never going to be able to build the foundation of your business, hence, never creating a successful business.
Because of this, I always tell people to focus on helping people. If you can do this, you will be much more successful in business, it will be more enjoyable, and regardless of the niche you do this within, the money part will come chasing after you.
