Hello, This Is My First Blog Post
3 Years with Wealthy Affiliate
When I joined Wealthy Affiliate in 2016, I was really looking forward to starting the training. I had great hopes of starting my affiliate marketing business and learning through the training here. I still do today.
I knew it was for the long haul. I signed up for the Premium membership right away.
I had no clue how to start an online business, let alone any kind of marketing online. So, with my first blog post, I thought it would be appropriate to write about my journey of 3 years.
• My Progress
• My Struggle
• What I Hope to Accomplish in 2020
My Progress
During my time at WA, I’ve learned several things through the training and from outside sources. I’ve been consistent with learning the important steps and fundamentals of Affiliate Marketing.
• Affiliate Bootcamp
• Keyword research and the importance of keywords in ranking on Google.
• Long tail and low hanging fruit keywords
• Using Jaaxy to find keywords with higher traffic and lowest competition
• Building a website and using Wordpress
• Learn how and when to use affiliate links
• Writing content for my website
• Learn how to insert images and videos into a blog post
• Alt-tags
• Learn what a meta-tag and meta-description are and the importance of using it in blog posts for Google.
My Struggle
My father passed away in April of this year. I’m dealing with a great loss now. So, it’s been pretty difficult to stay focused.
My greatest struggle has been writing. It takes me a very long time to write a single blog post. Even with an outline and template. I don’t have a problem with the ideas that I come up with.
It’s learning how to write conversational and engaging content. I’m always afraid of not being able to produce something that people would want to read.
I haven’t been able to develop a solid routine with my writing. Learning how to manage my time is difficult, to say the least. I’m trying to schedule my time, between doing my chores around the house, looking for a regular job and getting out of my apartment to exercise.
But then it’s either too late or I’m too tired to write. I’m not giving up though. I want to get to the point where I can make it a habit to write and stick with it.
What I Hope to Accomplish in 2020
I’m not giving up and you shouldn’t either!
Even though I’ve had struggles with writing and getting my website up and running, I’m still here and will be for a very long time. WA is a great place to be.
I really enjoy the helpful community, the training, and support, that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s important to keep going, even if you think you can’t.
I’m going to try harder in 2020. That means improving my writing skills and developing good habits. I’m going to continue with the training as I have been doing for the past 3 years.
I’m guilty of not engaging a whole lot here. I’m going to be more forthcoming about my activities, and communicate more with the WA community. And I hope to develop better relationships in the process.
I hear this again and again. We all started in the same place. A blank screen and no idea how to write a quality blog post. Keep practicing, even if you don’t want to.
You just must push through the pain. You’ll get better and faster, enabling you to produce engaging and helpful content.
I would love to improve the design of my website, so people will feel comfortable, enjoy visiting and stay longer. I want to create my own videos so I can “show” people how to do something.
I want to learn more about email marketing and create an email lead magnet. I want to build an opt-in page so I can get new subscribers to my list.
I don’t want to use Facebook, but I do want to learn how to promote my blog posts to Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.
I would love to learn how to use Google Search Console and Google Analytics. This is so I can find out how my site is doing. And to find out what people are reading on my site, so I can produce helpful content that people want to read and share.
We need to take action if we want to succeed in this business. I’m moving forward with my training with Wealthy Affiliate and taking action. By being consistent I hope to earn my first commission this year.
Best wishes to all my friends here at Wealthy Affiliate!
Peter
