Promoting Amazon products
3
Hey again folks, I've been thinking about promoting Amazon products on my site as an Amazon associate. The niche I want to go in to is adult toys and books (essentially, self help eBooks and toys that will enhance and put the "spice" back in to a relationship.
My site is going to be a review site of the eBooks and toys that I myself have purchased, read and tested out between my partner and I. This way I am able to give my readers a true reflective account of the product and or book.
Is any one else in the adult niche? If so what have your experiences been?
Thanks in advance
-Pete

Hey Pete... I had a good chuckle :) No disrespect meant, I just wasn't expecting the adult niche! I myself am not in that niche but I thought I'd share my experience with my Amazon Associate account - I wont share my 'product experience' :P
In short, it's great! The sign up and approval process is quite straight forward. I think the best thing has been the ease of the affiliate link setup. You browse for a product and then click the Get Link button, to get your own unique affiliate link. You can even do this on an entire search page, so your visitors will be directed to a whole page of a particular search.
What's more, is that they have awesome banners, links and widgets! Even the aStore is a great feature - I haven't gone this route but it looks uber-cool! There is also a great orders/link clicks summary/report - easy to use and detailed. My affiliates account has been really easy to work with and because it's free, you have nothing to loose.
I recommend you sign up and go browse for some products to promote. I took the liberty to search for "adult toys" and the search returned 140 554 results!! More than enough to satisfy any craving! (hey, I might copyright that phrase, but you can use it) #giggle
I hope this has helped you in some way - all the best!
Hey buddy, thanks for the reply. Well, what can I say; sex sells lol. Yeah I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to products to promote. Question: How do you promote Amazon products? Do you have a review site?
-Pete
Well, I try to be creative a post links wherever I can - wherever it seems 'natural'. I don't have a review site. I have a motivational blog and so I try to promote motivational books or other motivational affiliate stuff. For instance, if I blog about something that mentions a certain author, I will put a link in somewhere that points to that author's Amazon products (using that search and then link feature).
I have some Amazon links on some of my pages that point to relevant Amazon products and I have a widget on my free ebooks page, which displays a bunch of Amazon products (so visitors can see the product and price before clicking on it). I think I might also have a banner here and there (40% off etc.).

Keep the questions coming if needed!
You're right daily self motivation does indeed create positive beliefs. I like the look of your site, who designed the header for you?
Feel free to take a look at my new site http://spiceupmysexlife.com
What do you think?
P.s. Please bare in mind that I've only just begun on the site so there is not that much to it at the moment :)
How long have you been working on your site? Do you get decent traffic?
Sorry about all the questions.....
Thanks
-Pete
Hi Pete,
I 'designed' the header myself. The image is a picture that my parents took while out and about. They live in Namibia and the picture was taken during one of their 'outback' trips. I just edited the image and slapped on my own logo.
I've been working on my site for just over a year now. I must admit though that I could have done a lot more during that time. But, I have a full time job and a family to look after. I'm also getting married in two months so unfortunately my website is further down on my list, for now that is - 2014 will be a different story!
I recently got my first benchmark of 1000 unique visitors per month. That was in October. In November I saw that go up to 1600 unique visitors. So the traffic is there but I am not making sales as yet. This topic will be my next focus but at this stage, I'm still focused on building my site further - more pages, more content, more 'goodies' like banners and other links.
I had a look at your site - good job so far! Needless to say, I like the theme (same as mine I believe). I also had a look at your first blog post and thought I'd give you some critique, if you don't mind?
- Reading the title of the blog gave me no indication of what the post was about
- The title of the blog post is very similar to the title of your website
- The title of the blog may be better directed towards potential customers (ie. those looking to purchase the book)
So here's my thinking:
If the purpose of the post is to provide your review of the book, why not title the post accordingly? I would have called it "Sizzling Sex Review". This instantly tells the reader that you are reviewing something called Sizzling Sex. I looked at the Keyword data and this will get more traffic than the original title. The competition is also low enough to rank well, and quickly. You could also add the word 'book' to the title so that it reads Sizzling Sex Book Review...
Having said that, I like the image you used for the post and it would be a great header image for your site - it really gives that 'spicy sex life' feeling! Let me know if you'd like me to create a simple header for you, while you get cracking with the rest! I also like the Amazon link that you provided at the bottom. Although, I would have also linked the prices you gave above that, to the relevant products.
Don't worry about asking too many questions! You have to ask if you want/need feedback! Feel free to get back to me if you need to ;)
