Did you know this about Meta Tags?

Last Update: February 08, 2018

Oh, how much I still have got to learn!! It’s just about 1 year since I joined WA, and still I often feel like a Newbie.

Today I read a post written by AussiJeff, that made me realize this:

Every page or post has its own “Meta Discription Attribute”. I thought that we only could fill in the meta tags on the “General Setting”-page in WordPress. But you can and you must fill it in at each and every page.

There are four major kind of Meta Tags, and these are:

Meta Keywords Attribute - A series of keywords you deem relevant to the page in question.

Title Tag - This is the text you'll see at the top of your browser. Search engines view this text as the "title" of your page.

Meta Description Attribute - A brief description of the page.

Meta Robots Attribute - An indication to search engine crawlers (robots or "bots") as to what they should do with thepage.

If you want to dig deeper, here is the link:

Why haven’t I realized this until now. I suppose this is just basics in the online world. Oh, I feel quite a bit stupid. But even though this stupid feeling I don’t want to withhold you this information. There may be some species out there in the WA space, who don’t know this either, especially speaking to the newcomers now.

Only one way to go, straight forward to success,

overcome embarrassing feelings and

ask, ask,ask,

learn, learn, learn,

share, share, share

care, care, care!

😊 Pernilla

So true Ken! Thanks for your reassurements.
My GPS seems to have a blackout now and then. Lucky I found the coordinates to this issue.

Let's look out for more discoveries,

There's no shame in missing something the first time through, Pernilla! I've read that we only retain about 10% of what we study in our memory. Don't beat yourself up.

It's great that you shared it for others. That took a lot of courage! Way to go!

I did know this but learnt it after writing many posts. I had to go back and fill them all in. A bit of a job but I never forget to to do it now. There is a learning curve around every corner at WA.
With Grace and Gratitude

Hello again Karen!

Rika gave me a great advice:

"There is an auto generate option in WordPress. It will then use the 1st few lines of your post. That is why it is so important to have your keyword/s in the few first words."

Thought it may be of great help for you too.

Hmm didn't know that but what I did do was copy and paste the first paragraph into the Meta tag. Shame I didn't know that before !!

It will help and thank you! Do I need to set this up or is it something that is automatic?

Melissa,

You can do this in "General Settings".
Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
You find the "General Settings" under the "All in one SEO".
Sroll down to the end. There you find the box "Key Word Settings".
Click on "Enable". The box opens up. Choose the two last options.
