Did you know this about Meta Tags?

Last Update: February 08, 2018

Oh, how much I still have got to learn!! It’s just about 1 year since I joined WA, and still I often feel like a Newbie.

Today I read a post written by AussiJeff, that made me realize this:

Every page or post has its own “Meta Discription Attribute”. I thought that we only could fill in the meta tags on the “General Setting”-page in WordPress. But you can and you must fill it in at each and every page.

There are four major kind of Meta Tags, and these are:

Meta Keywords Attribute - A series of keywords you deem relevant to the page in question.

Title Tag - This is the text you'll see at the top of your browser. Search engines view this text as the "title" of your page.

Meta Description Attribute - A brief description of the page.

Meta Robots Attribute - An indication to search engine crawlers (robots or "bots") as to what they should do with thepage.

If you want to dig deeper, here is the link:

https://www.wordstream.com/met...

Here you can have look at Jeffs post:

Why haven’t I realized this until now. I suppose this is just basics in the online world. Oh, I feel quite a bit stupid. But even though this stupid feeling I don’t want to withhold you this information. There may be some species out there in the WA space, who don’t know this either, especially speaking to the newcomers now.

Only one way to go, straight forward to success,

overcome embarrassing feelings and

ask, ask,ask,

learn, learn, learn,

share, share, share

care, care, care!

😊 Pernilla

By no means should you feel foolish! This business always has more to learn and stuff changes daily as well! This won't be the last time you encounter something like this. I've been doing this since 1999, and I learn new things all the time. Quite often it's stuff others have known for a while, and I'm considered an industry expert! That's just the norm for affiliate marketing!

You are not the only one... I am one of those who recently learned this too after one year of working on my website here in WA. Now it's a routine for me, as soon as the post is published, I get to work on all the SEO that follows for the page or post. I am glad that I am part of your club, that I will call 'oh wow, I did not know that!' :D

That's funny, "Wow, I did not know that"-club. I'll remember that.

Have to do a SEO list for myself now and tick off one thing after the other. Thanks a lot for leading me to this thought.

Hi Pernilla,

There is only so much in the lessons. Once we are finished we are on our own and the learining is ongoing.

There are members that have been here for years and are still commenting on my posts with how they didn't know about whatever topic my post was.

Don't be hard on yourself, you are doing as I do. Share. So we can all learn!

For this, I knew for a few months, only because I saw it somewhere and checked it out. They are automatically filled in with the All In One SEO but you can do them yourself. Google on the other hand my change it anyway it happens.

Thanks for sharing :D

Yes, they are very important. I add mine through the Post, All Post list and click on Edit. There I can add the tags, keywords and title but I can see all those I have entered for other posts at the same time so I can remember the format each one should be in.

I add extra tags (basically the same as adding extra keywords) and get traffic from those tags so it works!

Never call yourself stupid!! There`s just so much to learn in this vastness of the online world. Something that I try to do is whenever I read a new article, learn something from a new lesson or even learned the solution to one of my problems. I will go to Google and slap that term in the good ol` search engine as this way I will always get the #1 authority on the subject so that I fully understand the question at hand. I will also scroll down to where they have those 3-4 questions that pop up and I will read a few of those. I then keep a Google sheet where I put a term in, the definition, a method or action on how to use or correct the term and then also add an authority on the said topic. Finally, I have 2 paper notebooks. One is a journal and the other is my action plans for projects. I will add an entry on learning the new term or topic and if I can apply it to my current projects I will add into the correct category as each plan is broken into categories.

I was born (obviously) with a learning disability that gives me amazing memory but extremely weak recall. SO I do all this for everything I learn so that I create as many triggers as possible to help me recall the stored information as soon as I trigger that recall, I will be able to even remember when what time, what sources, what I was drinking, the weather everything about that very moment but I have to trigger the memory to get the needed information.

So we all have our strong and weak points and we all have to devise a plan to make it all work for ourselves. Just because we may learn at a slower rate or simply overlooked a certain fact or plain have a hard time with a certain subject, this does not make us dumb because where other lack we excel. I would simply chalk this one up to an overlooked fact that is now be learned licky split.

We seem like a very smart and on bthe ball person from what I have read and I think stupid is nothing more than those days your looking for your keys and their in your hand or your glasses when their on top of your head.

Jair, I highly appreciate your comment. You have taken so much of your time, reassuring and encouraging me. THANK YOU!

You've got many great tips. Want to follow your example. It takes some time to learn how to think and how to find information within the huge webspace! Many things, which are obvious for some people are just like blind spots for me. My brain has to develop new synapses for this new way of learning.

So let's have fun learning and putting it into practise!

Oh, I feel you, I am currently trying to learn how to implement a child theme but am having such a hard time with it. There are so many ways to do this but I have found that no one has expanded or gone beyond what they have posted already so it leaves me like halfway in between and no one seems to reply to my questions. Plus the fact that I am already terrified of computers and completely useless when it comes to any sort of coding or even simple HTML input, does not help the situation any. Sooner or later I will figure it out, I just prefer now as opposed to later.

Perhaps this training by Nathaniell can help you: Perhaps this YouTube video will help you too. Just write the title in the Youtube bar and it will show up.

"How To Create Child Themes In WordPress For Beginners"

There are tons of more videos, if this isn't the right one for you.

You'll manage it, I'm sure!
Just keep on asking questions, the answers will show up!
:-)
Reply
DKMade Premium
Thank you for that. Unfortunately, I have already seen everything the WA video bank and library have to offer. I am on other sites outside WA like Youtube. Problem is that the training never really speaks of child themes and by the time I found out I definitely needed one, my site is so heavily modified that creating the child theme becomes a lot more complex. I have since got it created but am now having a hard time creating the individual templates for the new modified code. All the training here at the WA is based on a totally non-modified theme which is a totally different process. But like you mentioned, keep looking and keep asking questions. A saying I live my life by is that a wise man has more questions than answers...I have to be one of the wisest men around!! LOL.

Melissa,

You can do this in "General Settings".
Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
You find the "General Settings" under the "All in one SEO".
Sroll down to the end. There you find the box "Key Word Settings".
Click on "Enable". The box opens up. Choose the two last options.
