Page 1 of Google Achieved - I can't believe it.
Hi WA Friends !
4 days ago I posted "Switching You Off - It's Nothing Personal" and thanks by the way to all who commented with words or encouragement and support, it is really very much appreciated.
Anyhow, I spent the last few days really focusing on my next post for my website which really seems to have paid off as this morning I received the WA email that my content has been ranked on Google which was quite quick, usually it has taken around a week to get this notification and for my last post I still haven't received anything after 10 days. But, I'm digressing. I normally check Google to see if I can find my post and usually I never can even in the first 10 pages so this time I was expecting the same when, BAM ! there it was on the first page, 5th place overall. I was totally gobsmacked. I really didn't expect it.
But what did I do differently than all those other times? Well, I'm not exactly sure. I followed the points made in the training to ensure your keyword is in the title and also in the first paragraph of the article which I have done for all my previous posts. I wrote what I believed to be high quality content as I also believe I did previoulsy, but what I have done in addition is this:
- Set up my All in One SEO correctly (it previously wasn't) to include the Google Webmaster tools verification ID.
- Include several "low hanging fruit" keywords within my article that were relative to my article but not the same as the title keyword.
- Add tags to my post (something that I hadn't done before as I didn't really understand it.
- Watched Jay's Hello All in One SEO training from start to finish which is very helpful to understand all of the above.
If I'm honest, previously I was thinking that "this isn't working for me" or "I'm doing something wrong". I'm aware that this isn't and won't be an overnight success but sometimes reading many many success posts when you are seeing no progress yourself can be quite frustrating and at times de-motivating. This is why I needed to take time out from all the noise and try to focus more. It seems to have worked.
I truly believe that now all the little cogs are starting to click together and the training is really working. I hope that every post I write from now on will rank on Page 1 of Google, realistically I know that won't happen but the fact that is has happened has filled me with a renewed vigour and reassured me that I'm in the right place.
Thanks for listening.
All the best.
Paul

Congrats Paul, this too is a well-written post and may come back to it from time to time and check my writing to see if I've done these steps that you did. I agree, the training says it all....if we follow it Google will like us.
Hi Calvin, thanks for commenting and I'm delighted that you found my shared experience useful. I'll look forward to reading your success posts.
Very interesting post and strangely enough I was in my back office this morning poking around in that same plug-in. I am in the same category and have not found any of my "ranked posts" on Google. Heading over to Jays' training that you linked to in your post now!
Great Job! You have a lot to be proud of! I'm working towards be seen on the first page as well. I've been revisiting the training as and reading many of the tutorials the WA community has provided. I hope to achieve the same thing soon.
Thanks for sharing the link for Jays SEO training. I'll definitely be checking that out soon!
Congratulations on your achievement! Keep it up.
Best of luck,
Devara
Thanks Devara. I appreciate your kind words and I hope that you take some value from Jay's training. It really helped me.
Congratulations! Great accomplishment.
Thanks for including what you did. That is so helpful for others.
Like Jay always says:"Follow the process. It works." Glad you could experience this.
It is great to hear that you stuck with it Paul and have achieved first page ranking.
Sometimes we just have to try a new strategy or go back through the training to see if we have missed something or implemented something incorrectly.
You have shown us that sometimes we just need to take a breath and keep working at it until we get it right.
Well done : )
Wishing you the best in all you do

Hi Paul, thanks very much for writing this post. You have touched on a lot of things that I was feeling about my site.
Like you I have been writing lots of unique posts for my site.A lot of them haven’t ranked even though jaxxy showed those keywords to be low competition
I’m going to rethink what I have been doing and do Jays training as you have suggested
Thanks again
Regards
Fintan
Hi Fintan, thanks for commenting and I'm happy that you have taken some value from it. I realized that some things just weren't covered in the main training module by Kyle (ie: the All in One SEO) so I went searching due to frustration and found Jay's training completed all my missing parts (so far anyhow). Good luck !
