Hi there. The only thing I can help with is the layout, if you literally want categories as menu tabs, which is what I do on my site: http://modernhippiehealth.com

When you go to "menu", select "Categories" which is the last box, under Pages and Links. If you've already made your categories, select them and add them to the menu like you would a page.

Issue with this that I've run into is that you can only have one category per post if you don't want the titles to start messing up. It's hard to explain it, but if you look of my site and click "Products / Reviews", the title says "Beauty". That's a category issue, at lest on my theme, (Hathor).
