Jaaxy and Current News - A Winning Combination? You Bet!
Jaxxy and Current News - Bet Your Ass it's a Winner
OK, I'll get straight to the point. I don't blog an awful lot at WA. It's not that I don't care or I'm not interested. I'm just busy doing my own stuff.
I wish I had the time, but like most folk I'm trying to build a business on top of working 60 hours per week.
That said, I really need to share this with everybody at WA because it's powerful and it works.
Current news or topics.
In the UK this week is something called National Mental Health Awareness Week. It's called a week but in reality it builds up over a good period of time.
To be honest there's always somebody trying to make us aware of something in the UK.
It's often not a bad thing as somebody somewhere is always suffering from something, and by bringing it to everybody's awareness then maybe someone can reach out and offer help - even in a small way.
Anyway, back to mental health awareness week.
As some of you might know, among my other ventures here at WA such as Local Web Design Services and SEO, I run a UK based workplace Health and Safety Blog which works well with my full time J.O. B as a Health and Safety Adviser.
This is relevant to the story and the big finish so keep reading. :-)
I don't particularly have any problems finding things to write about as I've been in the industry quite a while and just get on and write about stuff as and when I feel.
The blog is gathering momentum but I'm not in a rush or feel the need to bang out ten articles a week, and what I do put out there eventually starts to climb the ranks.
However, this week something happened that really got me excited and made me think about my approach to all this blogging stuff.
Success on the back of suffering
Success on the back of others suffering is nothing new. It goes on all the time, but I found my own little bit of success, not on the back of other people's suffering but by highlighting it and offering help.
Let me explain further.
At the moment there is a growing awareness of depression and mental suffering of young men in the UK. It's not only men of course, but the feeling is that men have historically held their suffering in rather than admitting to it and seeking help.
The sad result is that many young men in the 18 - 35 group decide to take their own lives.
It's such a shame and very sad to think they could have been helped if only they were encouraged to reach out.
A lot of it starts at an early age with a lack of direction and it carries on into working life with an expectancy that they should be achieving something, providing for a family, saving for a mortgage, owning a nice car, impressing the girls. Whatever it might be!
But as we know, a lack of direction leads to no aim and no aim leads to no result. (We're taught that time and again here at WA, and also those who are a fan of the Secret are no stranger to the philosophy)
So how did I help and what was my success?
So I was milling around doing my thing. I was aware it was Mental Health Awareness Week coming up, I am aware that people in my own workplace are struggling, and I was also aware that maybe at some point I should write about it on my blog.
What actually happened and what spurred me into action was by chance being sat in my car drinking coffee when Prince William (The Queen's eldest grandson) came on the radio talking about mental health and his own awareness of depression and sorrow.
He spent his time in the Royal Air Force as a helicopter pilot carrying out search and rescue and was talking about the pressure of whether his crew could reach somebody in time who was trapped or badly injured, and the feelings of despondency or regret if they didn't make it, or even the incredible high of euphoria when they did reach somebody in time.
Despite the fact he was whizzing around in a helicopter and enjoys a very special lifestyle, what he was actually describing and maybe suffered from himself was classic workplace anxiety and stress, which can lead to mental health issues and depression.
It actually got me thinking about my own son (funnily enough called William) who does exactly the same role in the RAF (search and rescue) and wondered how he copes with his workplace stress of the roller coaster of euphoria and sadness.
Anyway, I decided that if Prince William is talking about it then it's got to be news.
First stop Jaaxy.
As we're always taught at WA, look for the low hanging fruit when it comes to keywords.
So what do you know? A quick bit of research on Jaaxy and lots of interest in mental health, particularly in the workplace.
This research was actually for the second article I wrote, which I wrote on the Site Content platform here at WA.
It was just over one thousand words, so not a big article by any means but I think it was helpful.
A few hours later I posted it to my blog, posted it at Google Console and Bing then got on with my day.
Two days later I spotted an email from WA. "Congratulations your content has been indexed by Google. Go to Jaaxy and track its progress."
So I did... And this is what I found
There's my article. Straight in with a bullet at No1 on Google and No3 at Bing
Not only that, it leaped right over the HSE article (The government Health and Safety Executive) on how to tackle work related stress so Google must have thought it was pretty relevant
And that's the power of combining Jaxxy with current or popular news.
Also, if you can write something that helps somebody at the same time then I think you have the double whammy of gaining a little bit of respect and authority as well, so it's a win - win situation.
So if you're ever struggling for ideas about what to write about then keep an eye on popular news.
Even something such as a downturn in the economy, or companies going into liquidation is a foot in the door to get a blog boost, especially if you are in the MMO niches. (and especially if it's local to you)
It's a golden opportunity to offer people a way out of their fear and misery by starting an online business.
In fact any niche that has despair and misery lurking in the background is a golden opportunity for you to throw somebody a life line and offer a way out, or some relief and comfort.
The big boost in traffic is when you combine it with some topical news and the incredible Jaaxy keyword tool that we have at our disposal as a Wealthy Affiliate member.
All the best everybody and thanks for reading.
P.S. I don't know how long I'll stay at the top slot as once the topic dies down then so will the searches, but if anybody wants to read the article, leave a comment and give some Google love juice then that would be most welcome.
Paul.
