My first run in with spam!

Yep, two months in and still enjoying every minute of being here at WA.

Yesterday, I had my very first run in with spamming, lol! WHAT A MESS!

If you ever have someone message you or email you saying you are spamming them, you're not, but something within your site might be!!! Who would have known?!?

If this happens to you, let the person know you are contacting support here at WA, comfort their emotional needs with apologies, and if they request you to remove them from your subscribe list... do it, because support will ask you to as well.

Last and maybe the most important advice... Choose plug ins with caution! Even though it shows a 5 star, and 20k installs... doesn't mean its solid. It may have 20k installs, but maybe 19,999 are uninstalled too! :o)

Get my point?

For everyone here at WA, we are a close, friendly community and we are here to help one another. So, if another member comes at you; accusing you and being rather mean... let it roll. They may be new, unfamiliar with site building, among other reasons. They truly may not understand that it's NOT actually your fault and that you are doing everything you can to resolve the issue that even you didn't understand. They may even begin to display some negative behaviors through the community.

Hopefully, everyone here realizes, or learns to realize, that when we choose to go beyond and add features to our sites, things like this might happen.

It happened to me! Even though no one else in my subscribe list was spammed, one person apparently was, and it deeply upset me. So, even though you might have a large list of subscribers, you will need to delete whatevers necessary in order to fix the prevent the problem from happening again.

Now I know, so I'm sharing this experience to help prevent this happening to you. :o)
