BE AWARE! Calling ALL Amazon Associates and Newbies!
Here's another Amazon Alert!
I just received an email yesterday from Amazon Associates, informing all affiliates of a new change that is taking place IMMEDIATELY!!!!
So, please take note.
Here's a copy of what they had to say:
Dear Amazon Associate,
We are writing to notify you about a change to our policy regarding applicants to the Amazon Associates program. Effective immediately, applicants have 180 days, starting from when you applied to the program, to refer three or more qualified sales before being reviewed for acceptance to the program. You can read more about this policy change on Associates Central. There are many ways to increase referrals and advertising fees you earn through the Associates Program, including:
- Make your existing links more prominent or visible to site visitors.
- Include links to additional products or product variants.
- Link to Amazon products from your home page.
- Increase traffic to your website using search engine optimizations, social media, and other advertising methods.
We hope that you’re able to take advantage of this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

It's crazy... Three? Just to be accepted? OK.
Kind of a bummer for those who haven't even made the original "ONE" referral that was needed.
There are a lot of small but HUGELY IMPORTANT details that everyone should know, so before signing up for Amazon, you need to make sure you're clear on their rules, or you may not get paid! Details about this will come in a future post; as I get time to set aside and write.
Everyone, keep up the great work that you all are doing here!!! I learn so much, and I'm VERY sure that all of you are too!

This is why we don't recommend joining affiliate programs too early along. Many affiliate programs have such provisions and I do think that Amazon is going to be flexible on this as to reaccepting people beyond the 180 days.
I think this is their form of motivating affiliates, but it may also alienate people from using their platform and get them to choose an alternative.
This is true Kyle! Although, I wasn't to sure about the flexibility part.
I realized, as the old saying goes - you've been there; you've done that. I'm sure you've seen about every angle there is of this affiliate stuff, lol... so, we will not be too concerned, and if our members here get the boot, we will encourage to reapply if Amazon is truly what they want to go with.

Wow! 3 instead of 1! I just recently got my first one, and thought I was ok. Now I have to get 2 more Amazon referrals quick!

Haha, yes, but I think you will be just fine, lol. You're already showing traffic if you've gotten one, and there are so many people here at WA willing to help out if needed. Pretty much everyone orders from Amazon at some point. Why not from another members website to help em out... Right?

Good time of year to have just signed up then with Black Friday and Christmas just around the corner! I'm new and might be naive but I have no doubt I'll see the three sales within six months.

Nope, not naïve, but right on! It is stinky they added to make it more, but if your site is up and running full swing, you should have no problems.
