Today's Lesson In Following The Process

So today I got a good lesson in following the process. Before joining WA one of the books I read was on direct linking and PPC marketing. Sounded pretty simple to setup, just had to come up with a solid set of keywords and bid on some ad space. Today I thought why not setup a couple of ads to try and get something started while I work through the WA training. As you might have guessed by now, things did not go so well.

I had found two products I wanted to promote. And, I couldn't tell you why I didn't pick WA to promote!?!? I setup an account on Clickbank and choose one product and started to setup an ad on Bing, like the book suggested. Process was simple enough, until it came to the estimated number of clicks I was going to get and how much it would cost. It was a disaster. I had found decent traffic keywords with low competition, like the book said to, but my estimated ranking would be on the first page, and to get that high I had to put bids of $5-$10 dollars per click, for an estimated 5 clicks a month. I wasted 2 hours playing with keywords and bid amounts before I gave up. Not being smart enough to learn from first failure, I picked the second product and went to work.

The second product worked out as well as the first. Two more hours down the drain. I had now wasted half the day. So I got smart, sometimes it takes me bit, and settled down and I'm back to the WA training and following the process.
