Staying Motivated

Being a newbie in the affiliate marketing business I know what problems people who are new to affiliate marketing face.

Whether it is a technical issue, content creating issue, or, what I think is the most hindering issue, an issue with personal motivation to strive for success and keep going.

You see, a lot of problems arise when you are doing something in a field that you have zero experience in, and that is natural.

You're going to hit walls and make much more mistakes than successes. But those are things that you can get help with, and the Wealthy Affiliate community is the best helper in that regard.

However, personal motivation is something that you, yes, YOU have to deal with.

That's because no one but yourself, has the power to truly motivate you from the most personal level.

It's a struggle that I think a lot of people have and even though it's all on YOU in the end, I want to share how I stay motivated, with the intention of slightly tilting you towards the right direction if you feel like you are starting to swerve off the path.

How I STAY MOTIVATED.

We should all constantly have some goals in mind for our life. You can't achieve success - whatever that is to you, without having at least a final goal.

That final, biggest, overall, general, whatever you want to call it, goal is the most important to have, because once you have that, all the little goals on the path to that big goal are going to naturally arise and be achieved.

I like to think of my final goal as the destination that I'm going to go to. That destination being my dream life, also known as, what I consider to be success to me.

And once I have that destination and desire to be there in mind, it won't matter how long or winding or crooked the path is, for as long as I know and desire my destination, I will constantly keep going towards it.

The path is 100% going to be filled and blocked by fallen trees and huge boulders. You're also probably going to hit some dead ends here and there.

But even dead ends aren't the biggest de-motivator, for you're only stalled and you can always find another way.

The biggest thing in the way for people who are just beginning, is their own self-doubt.

It doesn't matter how much you think you can control yourself and your emotions, self-doubt is always going to be there and it only strikes when you are in your most vulnerable state.

That state would be your emotions whenever you hit the most obtrusive and demotivating things your way.

When you those lows, your self-doubt kicks in and unless you fight back, self-doubt will fully engulf you and you'll have a near-impossible chance of ever coming out.

These are my personal experiences and although your experience might vary, it's crucial that whenever you do hit those things in the way, to keep the end goal/destination in mind.

Keep that final dream and the burning desire for that dream to come true in your head and use it to fight and overcome self-doubt and any other nay-saying feelings or internal voices.

Once you do that, you'll be able to make a comeback and feel stronger and more motivated than ever.

Don't Overwork. Take Breaks.

When I just started out, I forced myself to write a post every single day. And although it seemed like the best way to grow my business fast, this work ethic was taking its toll on me.

I was exhausted and I quickly grew to not like and almost hate writing content, and if you ever get into that mindset towards content, TAKE A BREAK.

I took and break of just a few days and when I came back, not only was I more motivated, I was excited to write fun, yet thorough content and that was very clearly shown when I compared a piece of content that I just created after my break, and a piece of content from when I was writing every single day, and I know this is cliche, but it really was night and day.

I'm not at all against writing a post every single day if you can do it without getting into that mindset of not wanting to write. If you can do that, then your endurance level is much higher than mine and go on! You'll be very successful in a much shorter time period.

But if you can't do that, don't worry, I feel like it is MUCH better to take a break and write when you want to rather than forcing yourself to do something you don't want to.

Your dream can only be achieved through work, but don't make it more hard work than it needs to be. Keep it as "smart work" as it can be and make sure that you are enjoying your work.

Find ways to enjoy your work if you aren't enjoying it right now, take breaks, remind yourself of your final goal/dream, or anything or any method that you find helps you enjoy your work.

When you enjoy your work, success will come very naturally and will feel more like a bonus, rather than the main purpose.
