What is Your Pot of Gold?

Hello Wealthy Affiliate community!

I feel so honored and appreciative to be part of this group of entrepreneurial adventurers! Yes, I did say "adventurers", and meant it, because, anytime you set off on you own, to start a new business, it is truly a learning experience, both scary and exciting. Just like on any great adventure, there are pitfalls and obstacles, little victories and satisfying "ah ha!' moments along the way. And. there is that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, in this case a brand new way of earning money from home and becoming independent of the "job" train, truly your own boss, with 100% control of the direction your business, and essentially your life, is going to take. When so many things in life are seemingly out of one's control, to take this very important aspect (how we make a living) back does create a whole new and exciting narrative for each of us on this path.

For my part, I have been mostly self-employed for about 15 years now, in the real estate business, both as an agent/broker and investor. But, I lost my shirt when the economy collapsed back in '08-'10 and then serious health problems arose as well. During that time of profound loss, I had to stop and truly re-assess the direction my life was taking. Like many of us, the economic downturn became a pivotal juncture in life, even an opportunity to start over from scratch and create something totally new. By the end of my person travails, I found that my heart was no longer in the real estate game. I needed something more personally fulfilling, closer to my core values, to truly inspire me to get out of bed each morning.

Finding Wealthy Affiliate was part of that journey for me.

But, I have to say, in the beginning I did not fully appreciate what was being offered at Wealthy Affiliate after I first joined. I kind of diddled around for about year, getting distracted by other marketing offers, and I put a half-hearted effort into the learning and action process offered here. This was, for me, like getting stuck in that quicksand you sometimes stumble into when your on that quest through the jungle. My pot of gold was actually getting further away while I mucked around!

But, as I eluded to earlier, obstacles are a necessary part of any great journey. If you are able to step back from them just a bit, you will see they are actually fantastic opportunities for growth and a chance to gain a larger perspective along the way.

So, here I am, again, going through the WA classroom lessons, posting questions on the board, taking in the great Friday night seminars, crafting my websites, etc, and putting myself back on the trail all of us here are on, the one leading to the ultimate prize - earning a great living doing something we feel passionate about.

And, this time, I know how to avoid the quicksand!

I will continue to share my journey with the WA community and to offer whatever hard earned nuggets of wisdom come my way, with others who may benefit.

So, "Live long and prosper" all you brave souls on this quest. I know I plan to!
