I had forgotten that for a bit and it was starting to show in my blogs productivity.
Between the move to the East Coast (and back again) I had begun to reevaluate my life the company and what I wanted out of it all.
I didnt like some of what I saw where the company was concerned. Sure I was getting out a post now and again, but my lessons had come to a stand still and my community work was all but non existent.
After doing some hard self evaluations I realized that it came down to my ability to write blog posts as well as I would like to.
Academic Essays Are not Blog Posts!
As a writer I can churn out academic style essays no problem. Blog posts are a little different. While not completely horrid at it there just always seemed to be something missing.
So I began reading everything I could about how to write blogs and learned some helpful points which I will share.
- use pyramid style writing
- Know your audience
- write from the heart
- be the solution to a need
- show do not sell
While not a comprehensive list I find them to be key points. A lot of this I learned here at WA.
The point here was that i was attempting to write in a style that I had no previous experience with. I was not actively working to learn the skill effectively.
In essence I was neglecting my profession as a writer and my craft.
So while I may not be around the site much at the moment I am still dedicated to this business. I just need a bit to work on my skills as it concerns blogging. A form of mental and educational house cleaning.
to quote Yoda I need to unlearn what I have learned.
