What's Your Future Self Look Like in 5 years?

Have you ever sat for a little more than a couple of minutes and thought about what your future self would look like?

I was rearranging my office and was going through some old papers. I came across a little pocketbook which by the date was about 15 years old. I used to use it to write down some of my thoughts. It was pretty beat up but on one of the pages I had written down what I wanted to be in the future.

I wrote about having a leadership position through which I would change my country at a national level, about finding a good woman like my mother, about not having to wake up every morning to pay a mortgage, making passive income, and that I would make up for not ever completing my thesis in my first MBA.

As I reflect now mummy would smile from above knowing that I achieved most of these goals even adding a son and two master's degrees along the way. I even got in deep into politics for a hot second however I have not made a dent with the national change and I am yet to earn a comfortable passive income.

By focusing on where you are going on what you want to become I believe that you are more assured to get where you want to go. So I wondered out loud what I would now write to my future self 5 years from now?

  • What kind of person would I want to be?
  • What major goal would I want to achieve?

Off the top, I would like to be a digital entrepreneur, drone and scuba videographer. I would like to be heavily involved with changing the lives of struggling small business owners. Iโ€™d like to reconnect with my family in Ghana and provide a lifestyle for my son and my golden years.

I know that with Wealthy Affiliate I am giving myself the best chance to achieve these things.

So I want to ask you, what does your future self look like?

Wishing you well always

Hugh

Inspiring post, Hugh! Passive income is at the top of my list - leave my day job to concentrate more on photography and art niches, get those book ideas out of my head and fully developed, help others to succeed, and become a better blogger - maybe even a full time blogger. I can see myself inspiring others, in some way, who may be struggling to reach or tap into their potential.

Seems like we are on similar tracks there Isaiah. Looking forward to hearing more about your progress as you plow forward.

Great post, Friend Hugh!
I remembered right after college: our professor asks each of us, one by one. What do you want to be after five years? I said I want to be a manager, a successful job, and have my own family that simple. And I have it, thank God! But now,1.) I want to be a success with my online business, 2.) I want to continue the plan to build a 4 or 5 doors apartment for rent. 3.) My hubby stays full-time at home 4.) Happily receiving our pension. :-)) 5. Have a happy life with my family and friends, that simple, Hugh! :-)

That sounds like a wonderful wish list Joyce. I have absolutely no doubt that you will achieve all of these and then some.

Thank you, my friend, Hugh! :-)

I'll be happy to be alive with a roof over my head in the next five years, Hugh--Everything else will be gravy in this mad world we live in today! Excellent post!

I have achieved many of my goals in life, it is just that they don't last, and obviously weren't sustainable--sort of a "bucket list"!

Now, as mundane as it sounds, I am just happy with each new day, and what it might bring along with it!

Jeff

Well Jeff it would seem that you have clearly been around the block a couple of times so if you want to just chillax and enjoy life at your own pace more power to you. You are clearly making waves with your books which ain't no easy feat so take a bow bro. You are already living your future self.

Your kind sentiments are much appreciated, Hugh!

Jeff

Anytime bro

I imagine myself pretty much doing what I'm doing here, but all my tasks are streamlined and things are more automated, so I am spending less time in a day on making money and have the rest of the time in each day to do whatever else I want to, because I can!

Work hard now so that you can play hard later. I could certainly get behind that plan. All the best to you Craig.
