75,000 Words! Yeah Baby!

Several months ago Lisa (LMH1968) wrote that she had written about 100,000 words for her blog posts. I marvelled at such an achievement and thought that it was herculean of her to write so much. Little did she know at the time that she lit a fire under my backside to focus more on my own content. So I set off a couple of months ago to set some writing goals.

It's a small win for me but I am happy to say that I have now surpassed 75,000 words and have written one shy of 50 blog posts across my sites. Having a production rate of more than 99% of WA members.

I was never really long-winded so it has taken me a little while to rise up to suggested Google post lengths. Needless to say and this one is more for the Newbies, if you remain focused and persevere you will also achieve your own milestones. Don't get me wrong it can get a little lonely at times but rest assured that the more quality content you build consistently, the more your traffic will rise and monetization will ultimately follow.

I am going to challenge myself publicly and see whether I can add another 45,000 words by the end of the year. I still won't be able to catch up to Lisa but she sure is leaving a well lit path for me to follow.

So this is a short one from me.

If you have confidence in yourself hit me a like or a comment and let me know how you are getting on.

Stay blessed,

Hugh

Great stuff Hugh, it's made me realise I've written waaaay too much stuff that I haven't posted at all!

I thought 'yea 75,000 words sounds impressive for sure' then checked mine and see it's currently just over 82,000, yet over my 2 sites I've only published about a TOTAL of around 30 posts!

Thanks for the update and inspiration brother!

Mat, writing will not serve you in good stead unless you finish it and publish it.

You have a bucket full of traffic waiting there!
Cassi

Thanks Cassi, 100%..definitely need to spend some time just finishing a whole bunch of stuff and posting-my issue is always stopping..I often struggle to figure out how i want to end posts.

I get that, Mat.
The CTA confuses me most times.
Usually, I publish without one and then update later on.

I want my content out there.

Cassi

Yes a good tactic indeed, which I'm slowly learning, it's better to have CONTENT out there, that may not be perfect, but can be tweaked later.

That is miles better than what I've had up until now, which is only a handful of finished posts, all towering well above the 4000-5000 word mark, with a whole bunch more of unfinished ones.

Those unfinished posts I spend hour after hour, day after day trying to 'perfect' and then never get around to actually posting!

Thanks to a bunch of you inspiring people, I'm starting to realise how backwards this approach has been!

You are on it, Mat!

Get your content out there!
Just write and publish.

May I suggest that you break up those posts and publish many more blogs to attract more traffic?
At this stage, your goal is to build traffic.

Cassi

Hey Cassi, sounds like a good plan.....though I guess I should ask....what exactly is the difference between a post and a blog?

If 'blogs' by definition are shorter/easier to create, I'll definitely start pushing that way. I had kinda thought anything I wrote on my sites was a blog post?

I DO know there's an entire world of stuff here that I'm not really across yet, so always happy to learn anything new :-) Thanks!

The names are interchangeable, Mat.

Article, blog, blog post, post - although many people refer to an article as a much longer "post".

Cassi

You are certainly most welcome Matt. You highlight as well how critical it is for us to keep checking our metrics so that we gauge our performance against plan as we go along.

Totally agree the more content out there the better. Also when you have more content then you can go back to previous content and interlink posts. Swap out 3rd party content with your own and of course embed your links wherever possible.

Absolutely, Hugh!!

You can then become an Oprah, Harpo and OWN. 😉😉

Cassi

Yea that is an awesome suggestion thanks Hugh...I've started going through a few to somewhat 'repurpose' or refurbish them a bit.

Hope all is well for you brother.

Great progress Hugh!! Well don on your achievement. I'm also fired up by the idea of writing much more content at a faster rate. I slowed down production while working on other things, but now aim for 2 posts a week on my cat blog. I've definitely noticed an increase in traffic as more content is added:)

Are your writing cylinders still working at top notch Kathy?

Absolutely! I write content every day, though it can take 2 days to complete a long post especially if it's a review. I also allow time for creating pins

Sweet. That's the kind of encouragement I can use for fuel to power me through the week. Thanks Kathy.

Pfffff now I know where you been hiding, ha ha ha I miz you my dear friend Hugh, as usual you always got something amazing!

I am so proud of your accomplishment Hugh, congratulation for having 75,000 words and more than 99% production rate as a member of WA!

Bow to the prince for me:)
