008 - How long it takes to become successful?

Always people asked me "How long it takes to become successful (e.g. to make online income of $xxxx per month)?"

I looked around and saw my baby boy.

It takes him 15 months of crawling, trying, failing, before he finally able to stand by his own.

I understand some babies takes 10 months, other takes 20+ months.

The babies themselves will not ask/estimate/care how much time they need before they can stand up. They even never ask whether they will be successful or not (just keep doing it).

They role model us because we walk in front of them (find yourself a role model).

They have being driven by the desire to walk like us (find out the WHY for anything you do).

They tried, failed and tried until they are successful (keep failing and never give up).

Have you seen a baby quit? :p

So, how fast? It depends how fast you want it.

This is such a great reminder of how the journey is going to be a little different for each of us. Thanks for sharing! And just to add to the baby analogy: my oldest child (now 25) walked at 7 months (honest!) because he just really, really wanted to GO! My middle child, on the other hand (now 16), would only scoot across the floor until she was about a year old. We could see her thinking about walking, and wanting to walk, but she just didn't seem to trust herself to try without someone holding her hand. What finally got her to walk was visiting an aunt who had two huge dogs that she adored. When the dogs ran out of the room at one point, she stood up and ran after them. She never scooted again! My youngest child (now 14) was a climber long before she was a walker. Now how that one fits in with the analogy I'm not really sure -- ha ha!

When I was an infant, apparently I refused to crawl. I wouldn't move! My parents said I would just sit still wherever I was put until one day I got up and walked. I was pushing 18 months, though! :)

Hi alpsntacos (or Sebastian),

Being a first time dad, I was worried too. At month 15th, my boy is still crawling and refused to stand & walk. Suddenly, at one evening he started to try to stand, few days later he will never want to crawl again. Since then, we let him to take his own sweet time.

Regards,
Brian
