Did you know that one of the common traits shared by the richest people in the world is the ability to think big and set big goals? Here are some of the examples:

Lakshmi Mittal, founder of world’s largest steel producing company, the Mittal Steel.

Mukesh Ambani, founder of the world’s biggest refinery, the Reliance Industries.

Aliko Dangote, greatest industrialist and Africa’s largest cement producer.

Donald Trump, one of the world’s biggest real estate developers.

And many others.

The people mentioned above didn’t think their accomplishments were merely a result of luck. They had every reason to settle for less, however, they pressed on for much bigger goals. Had they not planned to be the biggest, they probably would not be there where they are right now, at the top.

Now you probably might be wondering, why you should think big and set big goals? Why do you have to think big and be big? The answer is found in the question already. Think big in order to BE BIG. The following are some of the top reasons why you should think big and set big goals.

1. Thinking big not only enables you but also forces you to challenge conventional wisdom.

Since most of the people are unconsciously being programmed to abide in the tradition and certain mindset, anything that is outside of this mindset may call them impossible or even outrageous. Some of the conventional wisdom according to many are going to school so that you can get a good job and be secured, blending in with the crowd instead of standing out or being contented with what you already have.

However, when you think big, you somewhat force yourself and your mind to challenge such limiting wisdom. Your brain also begins to fashion a way out. Sometimes, it is always on point to give a second thought in accepting conventional wisdom.

2. Thinking big will challenge you to go beyond your comfort zone.

You will feel uncomfortable at first because the big goal you set may seem too impossible to accomplish. However, you set it anyway and you are on your own journey to achieve that goal of yours. Thinking big will push you beyond your own realm of possibilities.

3. Thinking big will stir your passion well as your enthusiasm.

Setting big goals may make you at first feel awful that you are gunning for something big. However, getting excited and motivated to do it will help you achieve it. Big goals fire up the enthusiasm regardless of how challenging it is.

4. Thinking big will help you unleash your creative side.

Your creative instinct will surely be unleashed and will help you uncover possible ideas to achieve your goals.

5. Thinking big will challenge you to expand rather than live below your means.

Big thinkers aren’t contented with just okay or average results. They surely aim for excellence because they know there are ways to achieve excellence. Also, big thinkers do not just live below their means. Instead, they expand their means in order to suit the lifestyle they desire.

To some, the goal of thinking big and setting big goals that may seem out of their reality is an impossible thing to do. However, with the right mindset and focusing your attention and perception towards achieving the big goal of yours, you will surely found yourself on the top, just like what the people mentioned above did.
