Following up on a blog post by kirkW about reviewing posts and websites and commenting on them. Like Kirk, I've been with WA for about three months and have written comments that were probably beautiful to read, but maybe not very helpful.

Kirk suggests these type of observations are not what "Google" wants, I had not looked into this issue. If I seen some error in content, I usually did not point it out, not wishing to offend the author.

I started to think about this, was I offended when the WA community pointed out mistakes in my content writing a few short months ago.

NO!

In fact, I'm grateful for the positive criticism given me, it has made a better content writer or at least that is my belief. lol

One thing the WA community pointed out to me was my grammar errors. With my struggles with grammar throughout my school years, that problem with my writing was understandable. Knowing I had a shortcoming in that area, I knew it was time to do something about it. Probably to late in life to go back to elementary school.

Started to look at various grammar software packages available. Found some, tried them and had problems with most of them. One of them, Grammarly, keep shutting down and losing content. So goodbye to that one. Some of you may remember my remarks at the time. After trying others and finding them to be completely a pile of you know what. I'm back to Grammarly, with an understanding of the documentation, following it, setting the software correctly and it is a great piece of software.

Disclaimer: Not paid in any way for recommending this software.

Due to this software, I know my writing has improved. Because when checking the content with Grammarly I find I will have very few errors in my writing. My biggest problem at the time is writing in an "active voice" instead of "passive voice." For you purists out there I know, this is not always a problem.

It takes time to review a website and it is necessary to help the person asking for feedback. Plus, it helps me, by looking for problems in content and on websites it helps me see my own problems.

With that in mind, I'm now paying greater attention to what feedback or comments I leave for those asking for help. Hopefully, my feedback is seen as giving quality and positive criticism.

Appreciate hearing from the WA community about the content of this post.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,
Yes I agree, and I try to comment to improve, but also try not to be rude. I also ask a question to give the person a chance for some feedback. It is always a slippery slope. Thanks for the information,Joe.

Thanks Joe. I plan on getting Grammerly myself. And thanks for following up on my blog. Quality comments are a great way we can help each other out.

Great post my grammar is not to either .
I am going to look at Grammarly.
Thanks for sharing .

Love this post. I think it is more helpful to get constructive criticism than for people to "just be polite". I know I need it or else I could not improve anything. Thank you for this!
