Old Codger at Full Speed!

We use whatever means we have at our disposal to win the race.

Here, I've decided to use the high tech equipment of my era in my race to IM glory.

Funny - I keep getting passed by shiny Ferraghinis and Lamborarris... and luxury yachts. Are they all heading for Las Vegas?

"Slow and steady wins the race." All the others may break down or run out of gas or wind.

Follow me if you will, but you may get impatient at my slow progress.

Don't forget to wave to me as I go past you!

:) george

PS: Happy April 1st! That's not really me - a bit of mucking around with a picture I took at the recent Thirlmere Festival of Steam.

Very Cool thanks for sharing

1

Thanks, Bill - you'd probably know how to maintain one of these, or even sell them!
:) george

No but would love to take a ride on it

1

Love it! Lee

1

Thanks, Lee - just trying to get up a head of steam!

Love my regular dose of that Old Codger wisdom! ~Jude

2

Thanks, Jude - I'm just trying to stay on line, as it were. Please overtake when safe to do so!

I needed this post today. Sometimes I just feel things aren't moving fast enough or I'm not learning quickly enough. But, you are right. Slow and steady wins the race.

2

Kary - I know exactly how you feel. A year ago, I had no idea what a blog was, let alone how to post one! Now, on with the show! We'll get there, I'm sure.
:) george

I love it George! You just keep reminding a lot of us what we already know which is slow and steady is the real secret! I think the picture is great! I've never seen one quite like that! It's not quite April 1st here however; will celebrate with you in about 6 hours! :-)

1

Thanks, Sharon - just make sure you behave yourself and not get up to any tricky stuff. Well, maybe a little bit! I have to keep reminding myself as well...
:) george

I knew that was not you, you are much better looking! Cool picture though! Give Jessie a smackaroo ( that is Texan for kiss ) for me!

1

Aw, shucks, Tria! Jessie gets a smackeroo - or at least gives me one - every morning when we wake up. And every evening before retiring. And inbetween times as well, when she sits on my lap while I'm on the computer!
:) george

2

Yes, but not from me. You have explained to her how beautiful, intelligent, warm and affectionate I think she is right? So make sure she knows it comes all the way from the US!!

1

Thanks, Tria - she's seen your picture and thinks just as highly of you! I've reminded her that she has friends from the US - and beyond!
:) george

1

Haha, George! Love your way with words...and great photo too! Very true "slow and steady wins the race." As long as we're learning and applying what we learn we'll get there!

Keep up the good work and have a happy April 1st! Hmm, it'll be April 1st where I live tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me :) -Sherry

1

G'day, Sherry - don't you go playing tricks on anyone! You're quite right - perseverance will pay off in the end!
:) george

1

Haha, George! Nope, I behaved myself since I was way too busy today at my day job to think about playing tricks on anyone ;)

1

LOL....great joke! I don't think you credit yourself enough!
.................Pat

1

Thanks, Pat - there are some things I can do and other things that I struggle to do. The latter seem to be the most important ones needed to be in the race, let alone get to the finishing line. Thanks for your ongoing support!
:) george

Typical.... Wise folk generally downplay their skills.

WA players, do not get fooled by this tactic, if you think you are passing this man's skill..... Well, you just may have been traveling too quickly to notice ACTUAL talent ~ a valuable online animal indeed...

(great pic mate!)

1

Goodonya, Damien! Happy April 1st. Sometimes, it seems that every day is a fool's day as I potter along, trying to keep up with the turbo charged all wheel drive WA-ers and other IM gooroos...
:) george

1

Thanks, Wayne - I'll get there eventually!
