It's like hitting that perfect golf shot!

If you're a golfer you know that most of us are terrible at it especially in the beginning. But for some reason we keep showing up on the first tee at 8 am Saturday morning.

People who don't know the game shake their heads and wonder why. We spend money on gear and greens fees. We spend hours at the driving range and on the practice greens. We take lessons. The pace at which we get better is slow for sure. But every once in a while it all comes together and you hit that perfect shot. You know the one. That 250 yard drive off the tee that curves elegantly around the dog-leg just far enough to give you an open shot at the green. That sand shot that pops on the green with just enough backspin to slow down and roll to the cup. That 30 foot putt that has just enough on it to roll to the lip and then hesitate for just an instant before plopping in. It's a great feeling of exhilaration for a golfer! It means you know you can do it! It's what keeps us coming back. We know that if we just stick with it we can reach that single digit handicap.

So...what does this have to do with WA?

I found one of my posts today on the first page of google search. The feeling was comparable to the perfect golf shot! Now I know it's possible. Now I can celebrate a small victory and know that the end goal is just a little closer than it was yesterday.

It's the small victories along the way that keep us coming back.

Ben Hogan's goal was to hit 3 perfect shots per 18 holes as told by Dan Jenkins.

While I never pursued golfing I get it. If you work at it you will eventually perfect your game and you will have those times when everything is perfect. People wonder why I am able to fix so many things. At work they know if I head over to a machine it will be working soon. It doesn't come from be a genius mechanically it comes from many years of practicing, making mistakes, and learning with each effort.
Again thanks for the inspiration Joe.

Great post and analogy. Congrats, I can only imagine how good it feels. I found myself going to bed with a head full of doubting, so glad to read your post today.

Thanks for the comment and the follow.
