After opening my dashboard this morning I see this in my comment area. What is this? Could it be spam?

I'm trying to hide tags and categories from my blog posts. These tags are located on the left side of my blog under the date and I do not want them there. How can I hide them?
Choose a theme that doesn't show them in the Meta information, remove any sidebar widget with them, and create a custom menu and don't add them and set it as default menu header and footer.
Hi, Thanks for this idea. I'm not good with this but any suggestion please. and do you think it will not affect anything on my site if I will change my theme? And all the codes that I already inserted
Thanks a lot
Bien
If you just added widgets it may disable them and you have to re-ad them which is easy as they just go to the bottom of the widgets page. If they are hard-coded into your theme by you the codes need saving and readded to the new theme.
Hi, not really. I just about gave up because I spent too much time trying to find how to remove categories on the left side of my site. Got frustrated and I needed to get back to work.
I see that you already have a place for additional css, please send me your website link and I will let you know what code you will need to put in there. All sites are different, so it's a different code for each site.
That looks like a widget. On your WordPress dashboard click on appearance which is to the left, in that tab, you will find widgets. Click on widgets and to your right, you will find which widgets are there. Remove the category widget from there.
Hope that helps, if not let me know.
It removed the category on my right side bar. What I wanted to remove or hide is the category on the left side under the date.
element.style {
display: none;
}
Copy and paste this code into the additional css.
You can delete this bit;
/*
You can add your own CSS here.
Click the help icon above to learn more.
*/
As it really does nothing for your page. Also you can move the category back in widgets as it was before.
Hi, I tried the code but it didn't hide the categories. Awhile back when I was searching to find how to hide tags and categories I came across a site giving a code to hide tags only. I tried it and it worked. This is the code:
span.tags-links {
display: none !important;
}
Is it possible to change the word 'tags' to 'categories'? Would that work?
Go to appearance, customize, custom code and insert this in the css
.post-meta__tag__item::before, .post-meta__tag__item a{ display: none; }
Thank you. I went to dashboard, customize and I see 'additional css'. I click on 'additional css' and I'm not sure where to place the code. This is what I see:
/*
You can add your own CSS here.
Click the help icon above to learn more.
*/
Do I place the code below this?
