How do I fix a broken link on brokenlinkchecker.com when it comes back as "bad host" or "bad URL?"
How do I fix a broken link on brokenlinkchecker.com when it comes back as "bad host" or "bad URL?"
Hi Alisha! I think you mean the URL "brokenlinkcheck.com". A bad host usually means that google can't find the url. It could be a website that's down, or in my case, it couldn't be found in the time allotted. I live out in the country and my internet is SLOW.
Most of mine like that are from the comment section. So I just go in and remove them. They aren't necessary.
If it's any of your own posts, check it out to make sure they're loading ok.
I've set up a free account with Semrush.com You can have it do a "site audit" and it gives you much more data. Don't freak out about everything, lol. I think they hope if you're worried enough, you'll pay for a plan, lol.
I just look at the error and warnings.

Thanks so much Suzanne. I will try this. A lot of my posts won't load and it feels like my entire site isn't working.
Oh dear. That’s sucks. Are you optimizing your images. That can slow things down.
If you’re having major issues you should ask site support too. They may find something.
