My website is too broadly focused on retirement income opportunities. It does not narrow it down to kindle book writing or financial prayers. Start over or change focus?

You can do either. What are you thinking?
However, you can keep going, starting with one sub-niche and, once completely exhausted, moving into another.
As Phil has stated, this gives your website room to scale.

You should focus on your beautiful islands, :-) I have spent so much time there and would again if I could. At 1 post an island it would keep you busy for a while, and in many ways there are retirement links. with many of the rich & Famous who have property

I am interested in building a website to help writers get started making money writing.
Sure, you can head in that direction. If you are going to head in that direction, I highly recommend that you go through the Affiliate Bootcamp training. That is going to show you how to create and grow a business in the "make money" or similar niche through the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate (we we offer one of the most lucrative affiliate programs around!).
If you are going to head in this direction, click on the Training => Affiliate Bootcamp. See attached screenshot.
Let me know if you have any further questions, and you can get mentorship and help from me directly if you need it.
Steve is your WA-assigned coach. You may also reach out for additional assistance.

You have a few options here.
You can click the Help tab top menu and ask a question, live to chat your question, or private message any member, including the co-founders Kyle and Carson, to reach out to site support if your website needs attention.
Also, from the help tab top menu, you can see who's your coach in addition to Kyle and Carson, and if applicable - you may have signed up through them or direct.
You can also ask questions in the core training.
Also, try to ask the question instead of saying you need help. And for faster resolution.
Here you have a whole community of WAC rooting for your success. Don't be shy! Okay...............
I hope this helps.
Hi, the person you signed up with is Steve with I've Tried That. He is your mentor!
You said you want to get started in the make-money- online niche.
I encourage you to take the Affiliate Bootcamp. That is where Steve from "I've Tried That" started.
