Ebay Fraud

Hi guys,

Just want to share with you something that happened with me on Ebay.

I have been selling and buying things on Ebay since 2005. But it actually the first time I came across a fraud.

I have been trying to sell an iPhone 6s new one. Of course is not a cheap item. So I put on auction as usual when auction finish I send an invoice to the buyer.

I received a message that he will send money in a minute, but he need to attend a dinner party.

I send him back a reply that is ok.

Thank got another reply... that he tried to send money through PayPal, but something wrong and he offer me to do it directly through PayPal and that he will send me a receipt, or he can send me a cheque.

Well, I do not sell anything costly on eBay without Ebay protection, so I told him this and that I only accept transaction through eBay to be closed.

I got a reply back with F... Bitch...

I wasted my time for auction, i didn't sell the product and will waste another few days to relist it.

SO he had to be reported.

Stay safe online.

Stick with the good people

I am :)

That's unfortunate, all my eBay experiences have been positive.

Lucky you then :) i hope it will stay for this way :) i had positive experience with them for 11 years and now :(

Some folks do react when things don't go their way, there is no need for it. Good on you for standing up.

Yes, some people disappointed than other is more clever than them :)

I'm still active on eBay... oh do I feel your pain!!!

Yes, now is all process and now i need to prove that eBay have to refund my final fees £56.00 I dont want to loose them :(

I'm still down $100 from PayPal not backing me up with a fraudulent buyer. I'll never get it back...)-:

Wow! This takes me back to the year 2002 when I faced off with a scammer on eBay. The results were far more harrowing and involved law enforcement.

It really stinks when these ugly things come up.

That which happened to you is totally unacceptable and I would report this person to eBay. That email was worse than derogatory and eBay takes stuff like this very seriously.

My story was so long I could not share it here and therefore blogged it instead. It would have been much longer than your blog itself is.

You should never be put in creepy positions like this.

Report him! Give eBay the email message he sent to you and the whole thing involved. Be careful however with feedback. I put my life in serious danger for the one and only time I have ever left a negative feedback!

I reported it and the scam artist in my case, had his eBay account AND business shut down immediately.

Thanks for warning on feedback.. but i think this person just a scammer as his account just been set yesterday... anyway i hope they will catch him very soon...
thanks for sharing your expirience

That's another thing I watch out very carefully for - how long they've been in it. Sadly this doesn't do justly for those who are honest and just starting out, but I've been scammed that way before as well, when I purchased a GoPro camera. Instead of receiving the camera, I got a thin package containing the back cover belonging to an old transistor radio. Other purchasers received combs, ribbons, marbles and other useless junk. The first few reported getting what they purchased. Looking back, this was Amazon, not eBay, but everybody effected by this, including myself were covered, but it did tie up the money for weeks.. Lesson learned there too!

How many sales and what they have for feedbacks - and their location (the seller was from Shanghai,) but moreover, the first two. eBay is much, much better than it was in 2002, especially with the buyer protection it offers!

Good thing you have Ebay protection. That is something that fears me with selling on any of those sites.
Thanks for sharing.
Sheila

Hi Sheila, well i can say eBay is safe if you using it according rules.but some people want more money and they trying to avoid fees so going on risk....

The good thing is that you had the safety? precautions in place that helped you not to be scammed and you realized that. Good heads up and a warning to anyone else about being careful when doing business online.

All the best.

Thats true the safety is more important thing :)

I have had that happen to me a many times too in over 10 yeas of selling on eBay and Like I tell customers, either you abide by the rules or you will be reported. I cannot tell you how many times I have called eBay to do just that and to make sure my final value fees will be refunded.

thanks for sharing, it happened first time with me... so i am a little shocked...

Thanks for the warning.

Anytime :)

Sorry you had such a rough time....thank you for the warning. There's always at least one 'bad apple' out there....

Hi Rosie, Yes...
It can happen anywhere... but good I learned through experience how to recognize the fraud on Ebay.
Just want to warn others :)

That's what makes you a good networker; we all try to look out for each other....kudos to you!
