Seeking guidance. Of sorts.

First off, some background.

I am a 26-year-old foreman for a hazardous materials abatement company. That means I oversee and work with guys in hazmat suits and respirators. We do specialized demolition, renovation and remediation, all under mass scrutiny by the local safety enforcement to ensure perfect execution. It's hot, hard, at times gross work.

I consider myself to be of quick wit, sharp tongue, and professional yet harsh demeanor. I am in close contact with vice president of the company, having undergone training to become foreman at his hand. Him and I have been in talks of me going to our local IT to take courses in marketing, and for me to eventually become the marketing manager for the company. I am still an absolute beginner, having focused my finances and mindset only a few months ago.

I live with my girlfriend, and we are raising our almost-three-year-old little cyclone of a little girl. We're doing decently, but our city is a bit RIDICULOUS in the housing sector. WA helped bring forth the mindset of my progression in my home city, as opposed to fleeing the housing market. I know it can help me secure the additional income needed for me to raise my daughter in the city I grew up in.

My problem.

I am forcing myself to write this. Writing is incredibly difficult for me, I am doing my best right now to put thought to text. It's rather unfiltered, you wouldn't believe how long it took me to come up with a title for this post. This leads to great difficulty and self criticality when trying to write my blog.

I started a web page marketing workout supplements, seeing high potential in the area, though not knowing too much about them. Nor, for the matter, really being too interested in them. I find myself thinking “Am I growing bored of the page? Should I opt out of premium?(I have been stagnant the last couple weeks, unable to progress) Why can't I just write it out? Do I have communication issues?

Now we're getting into the deep stuff.

See? I'm scatterbrained. I know there's potential, I know I'm intelligent and can research any topic and become proficient enough to sell it. Or at least talk about it, but how the hell do I motivate myself to write about it? If I try to think of a new product to market, it will be the same situation. Therein lies my greatest problem, I'm not into anything enough to want to write about it every single day. How does one find their passion? Is that even the right plan, or should one just aim for lucrative and adapt to it.

Ultimately I'm writing this in efforts to reach out to WA for some guidance, motivation, or something. It's a first attempt at using this vast platform to really find out what's going on.

Should I change topics? Or change my mindset.

All ideas and comments welcome.

Thank you,

Nick

Hi Nick,
I think it is incredibly difficult to write about something you are not interested in. There has got to be SOMETHING that excites you?? What are you interested in? What do you read, or listen to on the news? What do you talk to your friends and family about? When you pick a niche, it needs to be something that you feel comfortable talking about. When you write, you want to write like you are talking to a friend or family member. This is just an idea to show my point. Since you have a 3 year old, maybe you gush all day long to friends and family about her. Maybe you could start a blog - from a new father's point of view --- of all the challenges of raising a cyclone little girl! I bet you have tons of stories about her! As for monetizing, you could start with diapers - what brand you bought and why, sizes, environmental impact, etc. Each article could have a different affiliate product for that specific article. Example: next phase was training pants (what brand, sizes, etc. ) - what bibs to pick and why, on and on! Maybe you could get your girlfriend to help write articles. My husband and I work together on our websites. Sometimes he writes, sometimes I write! We share the responsibility since we both want to make extra income and improve our lifestyle.

Take a deeper look into what has excited you at different periods in your life, even as a child. You may discover some gem?? Take care and good luck! I hope this gives you some food for thought!

Mindset is where it is all at Nick
