Our Happiness Depends on the Mastery of Our Hardships!
Quote of the Day:
“A happy life consists not in the absence, but in the mastery of hardships.” Helen Keller
Meaning of the Quote:
A happy life consists of our ability to competently handle the difficulties that we encounter in life and still be able to enjoy our lives.
Discussion of the quote:
A happy life is not the absence of hardships but rather how we are able to skillfully handle these hardships and still feel good about life. Hardships come into our lives whether we are ready or not for them. We may not even know how to manage them.
However, we have to learn to deal with hardships instead of ignoring them and crawling under a rock to hide from them. More importantly, we have to acknowledge our hardships and figure our way out of them so that we can learn and grow from them and move on with our lives.
We have to be strong mentally, physically and emotionally to deal with the hardships in our lives. They either make us or break us. Therefore, it is important to not beat up on ourselves during these times. We should not lose sleep, nor eat poorly when encountering hardships. We will only be creating additional hardships for ourselves
Finally, hardships will come when they will come. Ready or not, here they come! Remember, everyone encounters hardships in their lives at one point or another. We have to develop the ability to manage them so that they do not derail our lives and know that we can ask for help if we can not deal with them on our own.
