Making your life terrific is an inside job. So, only you know what makes your life great. Your loved ones might know about some things that make your life wonderful and yes they might add to the greatness of your lives.
However, at the end of it all, you have to put yourself in a space that you create by the people you associate with, the things that you enjoy doing, your health and well-being, your mindset all these are what make your life terrific or not. So, you are the only one that has control over these things in order to create a space in which your life is terrific.
Final Thoughts:
Can your life be terrific every single moment, hour or day? The truthful answer is NO! But, that does not mean you should not strive to make your life terrific. Therefore, you should choose the things that add joy and happiness to your life. Associate with people that add positive energy to your life. Do the things that you are passionate about. Improve your health and well-being. Improve yourself - physically, spiritually, morally, mentally, financially and socially.
Why live a life that is not terrific? Does that make sense to you? Wake up every day and make it your duty to make your life terrific. Do the things that will make your life great. Yes, there will be challenges each day in life, but you will handle these head on and with grace and dignity.

While I was reading Nichola, I was also thinking about this from the opposite direction too - you should't let someone else make your life miserable either!
We're responsible for making it as terrific as possible for ourselves, and not depend on anyone else to do that. We should be complete with who we are 👍
