Are you a Pessimist or an Optimist?

Quote of the Day:

“Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power.” William James

Meaning of the Quote:

Pessimism deals with the lack of hope and confidence in the future, such an outlook will sure lead to weakness. On the other hand, optimism is about hope and confidence in the future so with such a positive outlook this can lead to power.

Discussion of the Quote:

What is pessimism? “It is a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.” The pessimist is of the belief that the world is bad and evil as it could be and eventually evil will prevail over good.

What is optimism? “It is about hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something.” The optimist is of the belief that the world is the best of all worlds and ultimately good will out last evil.

A person who has pessimism tendencies sees the glass as half empty while a person with optimism tendencies sees the glass as half full.

Final Thoughts:

People with pessimism tendencies all have a gloom and doom outlook of the future. They see all the challenges and difficulties of every situation or circumstance. For them, life is filled with trials and tribulations and the list can go on.

However, people with optimism tendencies look at the future with great anticipation and hope. They look forward to new opportunities and they will welcome the trials and the triumphs that the future holds.

I appreciate your time, comments and likes.

To our success

Kind regards,

Nichola

Hi Nichola, A very good post here. I think many tend to relate this to their personal experiences, but also culturally and historically. I tend to be a lot more optimistic, however I believe that both sides need to be taken into account. All of our decisions and opinions are based on something, and that's usually the information at hand (evidence/source) and the lessons learned.
In other words we are all 'hard-wired' to some thought process that equates to making sense to us. Should hard fact be at all of our diposals then the likelihood of us all being optimistic is very high. That said, it's like saying we are all equal in the eyes of the law! Lol :-))

You are welcome.😃🤩

Totally agree Nichola.
I am nothing but an optimist, always have been. I can do that. This will work. Watch this. The list goes on and on and so did the broken bones. Never mind, I'll clear that jump next time.
I hate working or associating with pessimists. They really do my head in. For goodness sake, have a go and see what happens.

The great ice cream debate.
- Person 1 - What flavour is this ice cream.
- Optimist - Strawberry, it's great isn't it, just love it.
- Pessimist - Oh no, I'm so sorry, I'll buy you something different.

Great post, love the summary at the end.
Keep them coming.

Very good. I am a pessimist, but only because everything is always a mess and if I wasn't pessimistic I'd just drown. And believe me, that is no joke.

Hello Nichola,

Thank you for this encouraging
message and very well put.

The optimist sees the rose and
not its thorns; the pessimist stares
at the thorns, oblivious to the rose.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in
every opportunity; an optimist sees
the opportunity in every difficulty.

A pessimist is one who makes
DIFFICULTIES of his opportunities
and an optimist is one who makes
OPPORTUNITIES of his difficulties.

Thank you once again, my dear
Nichola.

God be with you always in all ways.
