Do You Know Your Numbers?

Welcome to this week's update where I've been down the rabbit hole looking at online trends and economic news and the numbers are interesting.

Numbers are your key to building a successful business. Do you know yours?

I'm a Business and Wealth Strategist - what that means in practice is, I research a lot of historical data, look at patterns and identify new trends normally before data supports it.

Numbers are a key part of my business and investing strategies and they should be part of yours too.

Too many people spend too much time chasing shiney new objects instead of doubling down on their numbers and doing what works best for their business niche.

Let me explain.

While I am an affiliate marketer, it plays a very, very small role in my overall business. Less than 1% of my sales comes from affiliate marketing.

I have some online content for WA, written over 12 months ago, but don't actively promote it. Yet, when I look at WA data, the number of visitors from online content is up. This begs the question, why?

Email marketing is still where most of my sales come from - 90%, which is below the industry average of 95%. While I have several lead magnets, the ones that currently attract most people to my mailing list is a free weekly newsletter for online entrepreneurs and an investment series of 60 lessons learned sent as weekly emails. Subscribers to those lists are up 25%.

Engagement for the newsletters is up and I have an opening rate of 87%.

Again, the question is why are those numbers up?

Last year, having identified a trend for people making money online through business and/or investing, I doubled the number of newsletters from 2 - 4 and as I created new newsletters, subscribers went up and sales from the newsletters went up. I also created new memberships and courses to correspond with each new newsletter - sales went up.

Why are more people wanting online business and investing information?

While Google plays with Algorithms and changes how traffic is driven to websites and AI answers search queries so fewer people need online content there is still a demand for the personal touch - a newsletter or a membership.

Within my newsletters, there is always a CTA (call to action) and links to websites. On one website traffic is 94% direct and the only promotion is newsletters. Traffic to the site is up 22.6% over the past 28 days. And guess what? So, are sales.

Why are all these numbers going up?

As I gather data to answer the questions and find new trends there are some glaring numbers coming to light.

Economies are changing, unemployment is up, people are struggling to make ends meet. So, they change their focus from indulgence to learning how to make money. They are also more savvy and want information related to things they know about - hobbies and interests.

As a WA affiliate, this is the opportunity to grow your business while helping others to grow theirs. I think that is why my WA visitor numbers have gone up.

Economic times are only going to get tougher. I predict a global recession within the next 2 -3 years. The numbers I monitor are indicating this is highly probable. Out of desperation, more people are going to be looking for online opportunities. Isn't it better if you rather than someone else is providing what they need?

But, that means you have a short timeframe to grow your affiliate marketing business or whatever niche you are in and position yourself as the go-to expert for your niche. Refer to my other blogs about pivoting to "Brand You"

As times get tougher, your clients and your bank account will thank you for the effort you put in today - but only if you know your numbers and learn what is or isn't working for your business niche now.
