10 Years - Just Part of the Story

Recently, there have been a lot of posts about what it really takes to build an online business. The long hours, the months where nothing seems to happen. And that’s all true. But what people don’t always see is once everything starts to click, the rewards don’t just arrive they compound. So I thought I would share my story.

10 years ago today, I walked into a hotel in South Wales, UK, and delivered my first coaching session.

That one decision grew into a business that now supports clients in 13 countries, has helped create several millionaires (with more close behind) and most importantly, has helped people build the lifestyle they actually wanted.

But that’s only part of the story…

My online business didn’t start by design. It started by accident.

A car crash left me with severe spinal injuries. I spent two years learning to walk again and regain the use of my arm. I had to leave a career I loved in banking and find another way to support myself. So I became an online entrepreneur.

I started with information products. Back then, it meant placing adverts in a Sunday newspaper then spending the week printing booklets, duplicating DVDs, and posting them out. It was simple. But it worked.

That business generated income so quickly that I began investing alongside it. Within four years, I went from zero to building a £10 million portfolio.

I started sharing my systems through writing and self-publishing books.

Then one day, someone stopped me in the street holding one of my books and asked if I would coach him. Once the initial panic subsided, the quote from Richard Branson came to mind: “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity and you're not sure you can do it, say yes , then learn how to do it later.”

So I said yes.

That decision changed everything. As I began coaching, I realised something important. Every time I helped clients grow, I had to grow too. So I learned:

• Affiliate marketing
• Email marketing
• Memberships
• Mini-courses
• PLR products
• Sales funnels

Not just to teach them but to test, prove, and refine what actually works before sharing it - and guess what, they all worked and are still part of my online system.

Today, my business supports clients around the world to build online income and long-term wealth. And while today marks 10 years of the coaching side of my business, it’s built on 30+ years of showing up daily, learning, testing, and making systems work.

When I started, platforms like Wealthy Affiliate didn’t exist. If I wanted to learn I travelled. To various countries, attending seminars and workshops to learn what I needed to know. Because this path isn’t about quick wins. It’s about commitment. Consistency. And doing the work. Not once a week, but every day.

So if you’re in that phase right now where it feels like nothing is happening - keep going. Because today, as I celebrate 10 years of coaching, I know this for certain.
