How Many Affiliate Links Can You Use Per PostPage?
I wanted to address this issue because I've seen so many incorrect answers to this question that occasionally gets asked, and it is important to know considering most of us are using affiliate marketing as our primary way to earn money through our sites.
First off, their isn't one specific number that you have to stick to. But occasionally you will see someone answer this question with complete confidence. 4 links, no more than 5...3 is the absolute limit, etc. etc.
So I just wanted to point out that while Googling a couple different buying keywords I found a couple different affiliate sites on page 1 that stood out to me (One of them was position 1).
Guess how many affiliate links each of these pages had?
1 of them had 50 AFFILIATE LINKS, the other had 61 AFFILIATE LINKS.
Yes, that is on 1 single post. Not their entire site. So there goes that myth that you can't have more than 4 or 5.
I will say one thing, both of these sites had a ton of posts. One had roughly 170 posts and the other had at least a couple hundred.
If you try putting 50 affiliate links on a single page and only have 5 or 10 posts on your entire site then I doubt this would work, and you would probably get penalized.
But if you have a site that is thick with content then you shouldn't be scared of adding affiliate links on a particular page.
For example, if you are doing a top 10 or a top 20 then you could put an affiliate link on each one.
This makes it more user friendly, and honestly is silly to have a top 10 and only put links to 1 or 2 options.
No it doesn't mean that all you care about is selling selling selling. It means that it MAKES SENSE to add affiliate links in this situation. And yes, we are all here to make money as well, there is nothing wrong with that.
So, in closing. If you barely have any content on your site you may want to limit affiliate links. But if you have a thriving website with a ton of content I personally wouldn't be scared to add affiliate links, especially when it makes your post more user friendly.

EXACTLY the feedback I was looking for today, as I have a 'top 10' kind of page, and it is completely user UN-friendly w/out the appropriate links. Thanks for sharing!
Take care,
Cris
Exactly. I used to put out top ten’s and only put 3 affiliate links. It was silly. lol
Just make sure to build out your site and use common sense. But yes, no reason in making your site user un-friendly when you don’t have to.
As someone below said not doing more than a link for every 100 words is a good limit to follow.
I try not posting more than 1 link per 100 words. On a 3000+ word article, I may have about 20 links but I try not to over spam and the links are there evenly. Thanks for confirming this though! Always good to know Google doesn't punish just because there's more affiliate links than usual.
Yeah I just ranked an article with 45 affiliate links on it, but of course it has about 4500 words so that makes sense haha but thanks for the info, I think that a link every 100 words is a good rule.
That is great news, but it depends on the audience if they get annoyed with too many links or not. If you are an Authority in your niche I think you can do as many as you want as you are not short of followers.
That's news to me Daniel. But, no doubt good news.
Thanks very much for your post. I will visit some of website posts that don't yet have any affiliate links on them and do some experiments.
As you say there is no limit ot the number of affiliate links - what really counts is the fact that you are solving problems - this may require 1-50 solutions and each of these can have its own affililiate link.
State the problem and the solution, then go on to explain more about the solution and the product(s) which you feel can be used.
Nice post - thanks
Phil

to me you put links where they are needed - not to some made up 'law' for google.
it is the end user that you are creating the article for not some machine.
yes you need to get it ranked, but that is secondary - google is not the only source of traffic.
so add your links where they are required and don't abuse it, spammy articles will never get ranked, unless you are an authority site - in which ase you are treated like royalty!!
Thanks for the post Daniel.
Phil
Yes very true! Like you said put them where they are needed. That’s the point I am making.
Although if Google were to penalize you for using over a certain amount I probably wouldn’t do it lol.
