First Sale and Older Posts Moving Up in Ranks

I figure I should share this with everyone because once you start working at this and following the training it really does work!
I've been in WA for awhile but didn't actually pick a niche and start working really hard until this year. My new year's resolution for 2017 was to make this online business work.
I put in about 6 months of hard work. Now granted I work a job as well so I'm not even putting that much time in this. At most I was writing for about 10 hours or so a week and to be honest was probably not even that much.
Now 6 months of 10 hours a week is roughly: 26x10: 260 hours...so in other words that would equal 6.5 full time weeks at a normal "job".
Results
After 6 months pretty much every post I put up started to rank on page 2,3,4 etc. and not really much on page 1 for any quality terms.
This is decent but also hadn't made any money, and wondered why some of my posts weren't ranking higher.
I had a zero QSR term and was still stuck on page 2, this was a little frustrating and I had asked about this https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

Basically, I was at the point where if my older posts couldn't move up in rankings I wasn't sure what to do next. Start a new niche or keep working?
Well. I took a break and started a new project.
I have barely touched my website that I put the most work into for 6 months and then got a email from Amazon saying I made my first sale!
As I have went back and checked my rankings. Almost all of my posts are improving in ranking. Some have even went from page 8 to page 3. Most of them from page 3 and 4 to page 2. But I also have some page 1 rankings now.
This is without touching my site for almost 2 months.
Old Posts Can Improve Rank as Site Trust Improves
I realize now that I'm in a pretty competitive niche so to expect any more results than what I'm getting is pretty naive.
The fact that I haven't done a thing in over a month on my site and rankings are improving is a great sign of things to come.
I'm back putting in work with my website and expect to see even better results going forward.
Give It Time
Depending on what niche your in it may take 6 months or even a year to start seeing quality results. This is all apart of the process.
Hopefully this gives others some encouragement and gives some insight into how Google's ranking algorithm works.
Yes, site age is a key factor in rankings in my opinion. Time to get back to work. Thanks for reading.
