I Turned My Cell Phone Into a Lead Magnet

So, if you're anything like me then you're always looking for creative ways to hook a prospect. Maybe this will be helpful.

Positioning is great! Don't get me wrong, content is King, but I am an avid Networker. What can I say? I love it! I am an ambassador with my local Chamber and I love interacting with the local small-business community here in my home town of Bentonville Arkansas. 2 points if you know what Bentonville is famous for without looking. Suffice to say, entrepreneurship runs deep in our community.

In August of last year I closed my Brick & Mortar facility here in Bentonville and struck out on a new venture! I decided to take the affiliate thing full-time, but I still fully intended to use small-business networking as a way to prospect and build relationships.

2020 kicked our butts in B&M and the whole "services based" belly to belly just lost a lot of the luster with the pandemic. We have acquired some high-ticket affiliate offers with a high closing rate in the health & wellness niche' and over the last several years through the WA platform I have learned a number of things that give me a competitive edge.

I love the platform here with WA because I get to learn everything WordPress has to offer. I know a lot of people knock it but I think the WordPress platform is very versatile and user friendly to all skill sets.

My blogs today look much different from my blog in 2015 when I cracked open my "getting started" lesson and built my first online blog (which was terrible BTW). I had no concept of branding or marketing. No direction or experience writing ad copy. I had zero experience online, and I got my start right here at WA.

I am happy to say that while I may not be on the Super Affiliate level, I am running a business that has gone international thanks to the skills that I learned right here, and now I am doing it with websites from home instead of a storefront.

So, about this lead magnet...

Being in the home of Wal-Mart I am very familiar with the business card exchange, and I am also familiar with the fact that I have wasted a lot of money on cards that have done nothing more than fill landfills. So I decided to be a little creative.

There are apps for this kind of thing, sure! But I have a Wealthy Affiliate account with super cool WordPress integrations! So I decided to do it myself.

Besides, the goal is to drive all the traffic to my blog.

First I created a brand new blog with some branding that made sense for the main focus in my niche' and then I created some logo media around it.

Nothing too fancy, but memorable.

I set the framework for my blog in WordPress and chose my preferred build platform.

I created an initial blog post and began to backdoor navigation settings into my pre-built affiliate resources, appointment calendar, and funnels for my offers.

I had to generate a small string of HTML code so that the main menu opened to New Tabs to make navigating back to the main page easier. Don't want anyone getting lost!

I created a QR Code and saved it to the Home Screen on my phone and PRESTO!

A Brand New Lead Magnet!

If I meet someone at an event or in the Supermarket and we strike up an accord, I can send them my contact file directly from my phone or they can scan the code and add me to their contacts.

Now I am in their Phonebook with a picture and I have them in mine because I also sent them the vcf. in a text message. Usually with some follow-up information and a recap of our conversation.

The Contact File has the Contact Page for my Blog Embedded with the phone number.

Since the page is responsive, the mobile capabilities will ring through to a Google Voice number with pre-programmed hours of business that rings directly to my cell phone.

The page is fully integrated with Calendly, Google Calendar, and auto generates Zoom Meetings based on my schedule availability.

I have links to my social platforms including LinkedIn, Rumble, and YouTube. Customers can also access my shop and request e-books.

Everything is mobile responsive because the whole point was to use it from a cell phone.

While it may be out of the ordinary, I think it's a great way to leave an impression and build a contact list.

I have seen people who pay for all manner of nifty ways to get their message in front of prospects.

I figured this was a good way to take advantage of a day or so of creativity and give some credence to the training here at WA!

My favorite thing about being an affiliate marketer and online coach, aside from the freedom it generates, is that I get to do all this! And I am so glad to have learned it here at WA!

What are some creative ways that you use to prospect and grow your brand?

Hello Ian, Your Blogs are awesome!
I just started the training for UX Designer Certificate Online.
Do you have any suggestion and training to help me to become successful as a UX Designer.
Thanks,
Bibi

Hello Bibi, thank you for that lovely complement. I've seen the UX Designer training through Grow with Google. It seems a worthwhile pursuit.

If your goal is to be successful as a UX Designer, I would suggest getting very involved with the community here at WA.

As I understand it, the role of an entry-level UX designer might include things like coming up with ideas to address user problems with a site or product. Perhaps conducting research with users, and helping with process improvement.

My humble advice would be to take advantage of this platform and for whatever you can't find here, go to YouTube.

Build your brand around the individual you aim to cater to. Examine every angle of the user experience with your blog to start.

The feedback platform here at WA is unlike anything else online because of the community here at WA. Take full advantage of it.

Over the years this community has pointed me in the right direction to accomplish my goal every time. And if you know what you're looking for YouTube is a treasure trove of information.

I have learned photography, videography, color grading, Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, and more, all on YouTube, and all for free.

Google has free resources for learning basic coding, and Google Primer is a very useful (free) app that I would highly consider picking up for your phone.

I hope this helps.
