Never Give Up

I have recently been able to accomplish almost a 3 mile walk in this week, after having low back fusion surgery this past April, and it felt great after having just been through months of recovery - but also knowing that I never gave up on the goal of being able to comfortably walk 4 miles in one day, EVERY day again. I'm not there yet - but it's going to happen.

The hardest thing in this journey has been physically retraining the body to reprogram itself to move, and getting the body started again taking one step forward at a time. Taking the time to learn how to do so in a new way and to also embrace a strategic attitude along with it. This experience has further proven to me that I was built differently, in both mind and in spirit.

Prior to having surgery, I already knew I was a hunter and I already knew, I wasn't going to be able to sit down and watch actions take place, and starve myself by failing to take advantages of gaining more knowledge and stopping myself from being productive - both mentally and physically . I made a promise to myself, that even after having my surgery - I was not putting myself out of the game, and that I was simply "under reconstruction" - transforming into the next chapter of my very being.

When I could not sit up for long periods of time, I would brainstorm ideas and notate them. However, as soon as I could get on the computer and sit down comfortably for at least 30 minutes out of each day, I was another step closer and I started using my time to shape and build upon my next goals, mentally and physically - to be preparing for my next hunt; and to apply this attitude to get to my endgame of my goals and to finish them.

The idea of taking action is rewarding, but it is getting to the finishline, that is to be worshipped and praised. There are some things that are just as important to me as the air I breathe. I have not been sleeping .... You have to mentally know who and what you are, and strategize your own race. Never Give Up! ....

Hi Tennille,
Your attitude on mental and physical is most commendable.

Although we may have set-backs and trails and even disappointments, "you only fail when you give up"

Thanks for sharing, Never Give Up!
Darren :)

That's such an inspirational story, thank you so much for sharing it with us. To have such a positive and constructive attitude in life, particularly when we face hardships, makes such a massive difference. The fact that you are able to overcome adversity like that is fantastic. Congratulations! All the best

Hi Tennille, having that positive mind-set after surgery is really important. I had hernia surgery back in April and it took about 10 weeks to really get back to feeling like myself again.

Of course, that back surgery just took your ability to be mobile away from you and you are now on track to really get going again.

Good luck with your further recovery!

Cal
