The Good, the Bad and the Ulgy
Hi All,
Recently Iwas asked to give some feedback on some websites as a part of my training. One person took the feedback intoconsideration and the other person was upset by it. If, you look on a person’s profile you may beable to see just what experience that person has in order to offer such advice.
Now, the good feedback we all love right? This feedback motivates us to strive forexcellence. The constructive criticism, (which some people feel is the bad feedback) most people have a hard time with. This particular feedback is meant for aperson to learn and grow. And what that person is really saying to you is, I wantyou to be successful so it’s a good idea if things were done this way. Because, if you don’t have your website in order, youwill receive an influx of emails and calls which could overwhelm you and that contributes to a loss in sales. And, The best thing to do is make the website ascustomer friendly as possible.
Also, if a person tells you the truth, it means they want youto be successful. But if a person lies to you about your website, they usually don't haveyour best interest at heart.
Now the Uglyfeedback, is just plain rude. Uglyfeedback looks like this:
You are so stupid, why did you do that... or you moronit’s got to be done this way.
This is howmuch time I spend reading feedback or comments:
5 minutes onthe good feedback
5 minutes onthe bad/constructive feedback
2 minutes orless on the Ugly/negative feedback
I read acomment where a person was so upset by the negative comments they received thatthey did not know how to respond. This websiteis designed to create entrepreneurs am I right? So don’twaste your time on the Ugly feedback/comments because they destroy your selfconfidence and distract you from making money. But rather, focus on the good and theconstructive feedbacks they will help you in the end.
So, stay positiveand stay focused.
Best wishes

Constructive feedback is important. Ugly feedback is unnecessary. Fortunately I've only ever received the good constructive type and I totally agreed with it and made the necessary adjustments. Jim
Hi Gwen,
Feedback can often be a two-edged sword. All too often, the good type of feedback takes the front and center of the stage and while it is great to hear about how wonderful my site is, I would rather get suggestions on what I can improve upon. And so, for me, good constructive feedback is where I focus on.
The ugly feedback can also be useful. I try and use it to improve and to enhance the user experience to my benefit. Any insults like you mentioned are uncalled for and are ignored. I have not been insulted but there is the option of a nice, gentle PM expressing my displeasure about insults.
Checking the profile is a wise decision. The quality of the feedback sometimes is determined by the experience level.
Bottom line for me is if I can use the feedback to improve and provide a better service to my readers. The funny/sad thing is, some of the feedback I have received would have improved my site but I have not acted upon because it would not be me, if that makes any sense.
