I have been working on my website for about a month now. I came to a point where doubt started to creep into my mind about where I was going and if the path I was on would get me there. So I did the only thing that I could think of logically. I went to Google the all knowing all seeing presence in the electronic universe.
I was trying to see why after all the time I have put into my website and all the quality content that I have been adding to it wasn't I ranking higher than the Muskeogon Little League webpage for youth baseball hitting tips. My stuff is better and their's isn't even original stuff it is copied from other places.
I came across this website, http://acuwebservices.com/. Acu Web will do a free analysis of a webpage for you to see how it ranks in Google. They didn't take very long to come back with the results and give you a printout with a task list at the end of things that you can do to help get better results. The best part for me is that most of it is stuff that I can do and it didn't cost me anything. They do try to sell you their services at the end but that is up to you.

I found that what I am doing (Only what I have learned here at WA) has me going in the right direction down the right path. If you are curious like I was though it is a resource that won't cost you anything unless you want it to.
