A blog about .Nothing
This is a blog about nothing,...well it worked for Jerry Seinfeld !, accept his was a whole TV series.and although the producers knew it was a show about "nothing" it was a a stroke of genius, a success,why was this do you think?
I think it might have been the simple fact that many of us of those of us who watched the show, saw something of ourselves or we know some one who reminds us of one of the characters in many of the circumstances or the situations, the creators had, insight, a sense of identity with the viewers,they created a show that people could connect or identify with.
If we as writers of content for our websites can connect in the same manner with our viewers," put our selves in their shoes " the viewers would see a human being on the other side of those pages and connect with him/her and that could make for a successful encounter.
Many great writers employ the use of a tool called " Theater of the mind " they give us a detailed description of a scene that is some what familiar to us and it is in our minds we get to fill in the blanks.
Example:
I stood alone atop a green plush grassy hill, I felt a warm gentle breeze across my face,I could feel the summer sun beating down on my skin and the distinct aroma of the pine trees in the distance.
I heard the echo of the chirping of many sparrow hidden in the grass on the hill on which I stood, when suddenly there was a loud boom !, I turned quickly and looked in the direction from which the sound came and in the cloudless blue sky, I saw...
And the rest is up to you, could you feel the breeze,could you imagine the sun on your skin, if so why? why? because you the reader allowed me to take you to a place ( that does not exist by the way) only in your mind, you let me in if only for a short time, long enough to see some of these things.
The boom, we've all heard a boom before especially those of who are ex military, well it could have been anything, once I layed it down you picked it up from there and imagined the rest in.... "the theater of your mind"
Thats one reason that people can read a great novel and get slightly disappointment when they see the movie, is because its not like you had seen it in your mind and people say " the book was better"
Many successful comedians connect with their audiences by telling a story that the audience can relate to,they've been there,seen, heard,felt smelled and touched, all familiar to the listener but the pictures are a little different in each mind.
