Overwhelmed? Create Baby-Step Goals.
Recently, I created a plan that was hopelessly flawed.
It was flawed because every single day contained far more than I could realistically complete.
Consequently, even if I got quite a lot done during the day, I felt I'd fallen short by the end - as I wouldn't have managed everything on my list.
So, I cut it right back. I cut it back further than I thought was necessary.
What happened? Well, not only did I manage to achieve those things on my list each day, but I managed to achieve more than I had been previously following the over-ambitious plan.
I think often when we feel too overwhelmed with the things we have planned, it can stop us in our tracks. Suddenly we don't feel able to do any of it and just put it off.
Whereas, if you create a schedule that seems completely manageable and not at all scary, you may trick your brain into doing 10 x more than you would otherwise.
I guess everyone is different in this respect, but this is something that's helped me recently.

I agree, Nat. Sometimes we look at teh project before us an just allow the enormity of it all to consume us, when all we really need to do is break it down into small chunks.
Well done Natalie. I think that's a very common mistake, thinking we can achieve more than we actually can. The problem is when we do that we feel defeated, so is much better as you say to do less and get it done. ~Mark
Absolutely - if I lower the bar slightly, suddenly it feels easier to go over! :) Thanks Mark!
Hey Nat, everyone has their own take and manages their own time. I had not thought about shortening the to do list to accomplish goals. Very cool approach. Thx.

Hi Nat... thanks for writing this. I'm really happy to hear your baby steps are working well for you.
Being overwhelmed for me was frustrating and set me back further. Baby step goals really do work... I like to have a weekly and then out of that decide what my goal for the day will be. If I feel I'm not making my goal for the day I juggle my other daily chores to somehow make it work... which means sacrificing my bootcamp workouts but I still manage to do stretches and lift a few weights because sitting all day isn't good either.
That sounds like a good plan! Oh I understand juggling the exercise too - for me I have to do some exercise most days, it's really important for mindset I think. Unfortunately, I'm sick at the moment and haven't managed to workout or run for several days... which makes me grumpy! lol :)
Ohhh... sorry to hear you're under the weather. I hope you feel better soon. See if you can find a funny youtube video to get you laughing and cheer you up.
Hi. Although your link is not posted at the bottom of your profile (which would be great because I think your site would serve as a wonderful example for newbies) I found you by googling some key word or other.....I LOVE YOUR SITE!!! So eye catching. Great work, baby steps or leaps and bounds you're on your way to greatness!
Hi thank you so much Mel, I do appreciate that.
Yes, the main reason that I don't have my website link here now is that is messes with my analytics and bounce rate - as people will hop off and on from here. I have also had content directly stolen, which is a shame but isn't the main reason I don't post the link.
As you've discovered though, I can be easily found anyway lol. :) All the best to you! Nat

I tend to agree being having those experiences myself. Feeling shitty at the end of the day when i looked back that nothing significant was done. I suppose how do we eat an elephant? one bite at a time
