Do something NEW every day!

Last Update: February 17, 2018

I made a pledge recently.

That was to do at least ONE NEW THING every day that could help drive my business forward.

It may be a very small thing, but whatever it is should be a little leap forward.

So, that may be contacting someone new, joining a new affiliate program or network, improving an old post to boost ranking and give it NEW life, watching some new training, start learning a NEW tool or skill... and many other things.

I decided to do this because last year, I got stuck in a rut. I really only did the SAME thing month after month and very little new!

I had a little bit of analysis paralysis because, I knew there were things that needed to be done - but they involved things outside of my comfort zone.

So, I put them off until tomorrow... and the day after and the day after.... Sometimes the task would just seem to big.

A way to overcome this, is just to create one baby-step towards your goal...and then take the next... eventually it will be done.

I pretty much only created content and very little else for most of last year. While creating content is good, there is a lot more that needs to be done aside from that.

Doing new things challenges us and helps us progress.

What have you done NEW recently? Or are you guilty of staying in your comfort zone?

Just had a conversation with a friend the other day, looking back on the last couple of years and how much has changed in both of our lives as a benefit of getting outside of our comfort zones. I like your idea of doing one new thing every day!

I can't even tell you what a massive difference it's made! Taking action on all those things I'd put off and off... it's amazing what you can do once you stop doing that.

The thing is, the more you do things that are out of your comfort zone, the more you can figure out what is going to work and what isn't. :)

I seldom feel in my comfort zone these days but I'm getting used to it so the discomfort feels a whole lot better. :) ~Mark

I am in a constant state of learning and doing new things at the moment. It is a case of feel the fear and do it anyway though.
At times I feel overwhelmed with new things and then I get a little comfy for a few days, once things learned have been implemented.
But you are right it doesn't matter how many steps we take in a day as long as we at least take one.
Wishing you every success.
With Grace and Gratitude

Feel the fear and do it anyway - yes, pretty much something I repeat to myself very often now! Feeling overwhelmed by learning new skills or worrying about certain outcomes has stopped me in my tracks multiple times before... but for some reason, I have been able to push through it recently. I suppose part of it is just making those smaller steps. :)

It can be a scary thing, when we enter 'unknown territory.'But sometimes it can bring out a hidden strength that lies within.

Go for it,and have fun along the way!

Absolutely! I had a bad January and not much of a better Feb lol, but it's actually helped me construct a plan and feel motivated.

Analysis paralysis. Nice very nice way to put it. Seems to be where I am at right now. I will not write something that does not relate to my niche, and making sure it is compelling enough to draw readers in is at the top of methods. Comfort zone, perhaps, but I think it goes further with my intent. Great thinking, looks like I will have to give it a try, one step at a time.

Many thanks.

Well, it sounds like you're being meticulous when creating your content - which is a good thing. I guess it's only not when it stops you from putting enough out there. :)

Good reminder. There is always something new to learn. Even for those who may be experienced. When you say that you didn’t do anything else but content, are you referring to other marketing techniques to drive traffic besides SEO?

Hi yes kim - basically SEO, but very little else. I posted something shared on G+ and once in FB, did the odd thing on twitter but there wasn't a plan there ... But generally, I'm being a lot more strategic, having a real plan of action. It's not just about social media at all, (I only plan to focus on one platform with that). My goal is really doubling my traffic in the next six months and I have various things I'm planning to do to make it happen.:)

Hi Nat, I love this idea... And I love the list you came up with of new things to do. I find that since I started Kyle's Super Affiliate Challenge, I am getting out of my comfort zone ona daily basis. So much to do, so little time.

Awesome! Literally working on a blog RIGHT NOW about this.

"Doing a little bit everyday is a lot more important that doing a lot on SOME days.." -John Maxwell .. The blog is about his rule of 5 tree chopping method.

I listen to a motivational video each morning during my exercise to constantly expand my mind on how to get better.

Love this, keep it up!

Hey Jaron! I'm similar as well, I LOVE listening to podcasts related to online business, or just something motivational and I'm a runner, so I listen while I run and get two things done at once. I think keeping physically fit can really help people to stay mentally strong too! :)
