becoming an Amazon affiliate

Hey hey hey, I just registered myself as an Affiliate of Amazon. It was easy, but there were a few tricky parts. So I thought I would share this for people who haven't done it yet and any newcomers to WA.

1) They will ask you for a preferred associates store id. Don't sweat this at all! put in something similar to your website or just write out your website. Later after you have finished setting everything else up they will give you your "preferred associates store id" anyway.

2) they will need to verify you, and they do this by phone so make sure is close by.

3) They do want tax information so if your US citizen you should that handy. If you aren't they will ask you a TIN. The UK doesn't give these out, so I clicked that I dint have one. They will actually offer you one if you'd like and I believe you can get a 40% tax back rebate through it. I'll let you know more about that as soon as mine comes through.

However, I have a question for any older WA members, especially those who reside outside of the US, more specially in China (where I live). Amazon only offers 3 payment kinds 1) Amazon gift cards worth the amount of your payment, 2) pay direct to your bank (this is only available to US citizens living in the US), 3) by Cheque but this will be sent out after you have reached and amount of $100.

Has anyone had any experience receiving a cheque from Amazon and paid it into a Chinese bank account?

This is all new to me, I have not registered for Amazon yet, though my daughter did without a lot of hassle so maybe she can walk dear mom through the procedure. Thanks for sharing.

In haven't had any experience with your enquiry but I'd very like to b all did you get your API number? You can use Amazon without it but I believe the API IS something v about Amazon recognizing you b as a business and therefore I would assume v more sales. They denied me mine saying I wasn't a business that could v sell their products even though I'm an artist and put out their art supplies and art books all the time/.... How important is the API?

I don’t how important the API really is, but I registered as a private person and they gave me mine straight away!
I think it is better to have the API to be honest though.
