Happy Thanksgiving! IM Strategies for this Holiday

Well this week is winding down and I am about to head off to my relative's place for Thanksgiving. I wanted to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving and bid you all safe travels if you are traveling to family and friend's homes to celebrate and give thanks.

I shall be using some of the free time off work to do some internet marketing and am hoping to launch my new site at the end of this week. I've already purchased the domain name and have written some content for it already. I plan to write up a few more pages of content prior to uploading it all this weekend. :)

I've found that I can create content if I have a few extra minutes where I can just sit down and pour out my thoughts on a subject. This new website will be different from my first (and hence it will be a bit easier to maintain and keep content up to date) because it is going to be a location where I can express my opinion, review products I find interesting and use on a regular basis, and in general provide my take on the world for anyone interested in a second opinion. Not yet certain who will value that, but this is all one big experiment for me to determine if I can actually drive traffic in this fashion. I figure that, rather than receiving traffic at a single home page, I may have to promote each individual page based upon the subject being presented upon that particular page. In this way I hope to create a more spread out web to pull in visitors from the search engines for a broad variety of key words.

As this is similar to a blog, I have been going back and forth for awhile on whether I should simply make regular and frequent blog posts once I have established my website, or if I ought to build separate web pages? They are pretty much the same I would simply be using the new page feature rather than the new post feature in wordpress, but I am unsure of the effect this would have on a search engine. Also I am not sure how these would be organized and which would be simpler to navigate.

In any case, at the moment it seems to me that pages would be simpler to navigate and so I shall stick with creating multiple pages of content and then for the more random topics that have no single theme, post as blog updates.

In any case, have a wonderful holiday and don't hurt yourselves eating!

Good luck

Actually, I ran into this dilemma a while back. It turns out that for large concepts like Pianos or Computer Processor Boards then pages would be better. Posts should be your main focus for the detail stuff. Organize them with Categories and post specific categories on the page with custom menus in widgets.
