My Niche Area

So I am slowly working my way through the training and have stopped at the niche area section. I have been giving this a lot of thought and have come up with quite a few ideas. I am wanting to write an ebook and am thinking that as I have a physical cleaning business this would be a good area to write one. I also have past history (both work and personal) on grief and loss, how to support someone through their grief, how to support someone who is detoxing and quitting alcohol and drugs ( I was a support worker in this area), being a single parent etc. So as you all can see I have a few areas to work on. My husband and I are very much into gold detecting, tressure hunting and camping and going "bush". So with this wealth of niches and interests and experiences I am at a halt trying to decide which one I would like to start with. So I guess my question would be how long should an ebook be? I am looking at publishing on kindle and also possible through my own website, and eventually to have possible ecourses.

Hi NataleeEgan Thank you for the follow. To get help with your e-book question, you may want to look at Amazon. At Amazon you can self publish your e-book(s) for free with their Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing platform. kdp.amazon.com
Hope this helps.

Thank you Lady-B. That's great information. I have been writing down my ideas and still trying to pick my niche area for my website as well as my book. I think being the holiday session is making it hard as I am relax and finding it hard to make a decision :/ lol

I have a limited experience on Kindle, but I've seen short stories as books as short as forty pages I think. You'd have to look at Kindle's rules for an exact number.

I don't think length is really the concern. It's really the quality of the content. I have some really short reference books that are only 100 pages that are invaluable, and I have read long books that I swear the writer was going for some kind of record and just kept padding the book with nonsense.

I actually know one author that consciously stopped writing long books and started only writing books that are about 100 pages specifically because he kept getting questions and comments from people that made it clear they never finished the book. The other advantage to this is that it allows you to write real detailed content on one particular area of your niche at a time. You can then turn these books into a sort of series that covers the whole niche.

Happy to help. Let me know if you go that route. There are a couple of people on here looking to do the same thing and I'm curious to see what works for everyone.
