Knowing Your "Why" Will Get You to the Other Side!

Quote for the day:"Soon, when all is well, you're going to look back on this period in your life and be glad you never gave up."

I woke up 3 hours too early this morning. As I was lying in bed, tossing and turning, I began to think about my "why". Why am I doing Wealthy Affiliate in addition to working full time? I have no experience with building a website. I have no background in digital marketing. All of this is completely new to me. And yet, I forge ahead. I wake up early with WA on my mind. I'm writing articles, taking classes, working on my social media promotions, and asking LOTS of questions along the way.

I believe we must know our "why" because there is SO MUCH to learn. It's exciting and stimulating, but there are days when I wonder if I will be successful. There are times when I spend hours on something, only to discover I did it incorrectly and I need to start all over. It can be exasperating!

During these challenging times, I sometimes wonder if I have what it takes. My website looks rudimentary. I struggle to write captivating articles. I try not to even think about all the things I have ahead of me that I currently have no idea how to do. But Wealthy Affiliate has buoyed me thus far with solid training, knowledgeable members who answer my questions, tech support, when I really mess things up, and step-by-step guidance. I'm learning to trust the process because everything I need is here.

So when I thought about why I'm taking on this entirely new experience, this is what I came up with:

  • I want to enjoy every day of every month to the fullest, instead of thinking, "It's only the 11th and I'm already running out of money?! I can't wait until payday so I don't have to worry if I'll have enough money for gas or groceries."
  • When I find out that someone else is struggling to buy food or any other necessity, I want to be able to help, without hesitation.
  • I want to be able to buy coffee for the person behind me in line to brighten their day.
  • I want to plan trips and explore the beauty of the world, immerse myself in other cultures, and create memories with my sweetheart.
  • I want to be able to fix things on my house when they need fixing.
  • I want to build a successful business that I can work on from anywhere.
  • When I retire, I won't need to worry about stretching my money to barely "get by".
  • I look forward to feeling proud that I run a viable business I built myself.

There are a lot of pieces to the WA puzzle. It can feel daunting and completely overwhelming at times. But there is a vibrant and supportive community here. The classes are phenomenal. The success stories are inspirational. And everything we need is built right into the program. We're building that bridge across a great expanse to get to the other side. And the bridge needs to be built carefully and systematically; one piece at a time. Sometimes we might lay down a long stretch of the road, only to find out it needs to be torn up and redone. But we will get there, one small step at a time. The process cannot be rushed and there are no shortcuts.

I'm working about 60 hours per week right now. I rest when I need to, but I have a goal and a dream that I'm working toward. I know that I will look back on this time with pride one day. I will look back knowing that I persisted, even in the face of disappointments and setbacks. I overcame feelings of incompetence and confusion. I pushed on even when the road ahead looked dark and ominous because I could not see where I was going. I built my bridge to the other side and the bridge is strong and well-designed.

What is your "why?" What's on the other side of your bridge? What are your dreams and goals? I encourage you to get very clear on why you're doing this. Take the time to draft out your plans and plot your course. Then forge ahead. Remind yourself of why you're doing this every day. You might have to take some classes several times. You'll surely make mistakes along the way. You'll also learn more than you can possibly quantify.

Ask lots of questions, read the success stories, and just keep going. It will pay off.

I look forward to meeting you in Vegas!

Great Image of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge! (Pre-conversion)

Those are fabulous 'why' answers!

I share some of those same ones, like build a successful business, travel, etc.

You are exactly where you are meant to be!

Hi, Nancy!

Yup, you have what it takes. Patience and persistence are the secret.

I don't want to be broke in retirement, and I want to leave my son a legacy.

See you in Vegas!
