Amazon Links for Total Newbies

Last night I published my first affiliate post on my website. I had tutorials, advices and online help from many WA members. I had plenty of trouble to do this and learned some lessons the hard way. So I’m writing this to make it easy for a total newbie. I found out that if you have never been an Amazon Affiliate some of the videos and tutorials will not work.

When you join Amazon Associates for the first time you get full access to Amazon but are not as yet a confirmed affiliate. That occurs after the first sale and a review of your website. Your dashboard will not be the same as that of a confirmed affiliate. So you will look for things and they won’t be there.

The way to do it is to go into your Amazon Associates account and press Links and Banners. Then if you want a link, click "create link". Then go to Search and enter the category and product. A bunch of product choices will appear. When you decide which you want Do Not click the product image, click the little orange rectangle that says “get link”.

You’ll be shown a preview of what the link will look like and told to highlight the HTML message. Do that and then go to your website dashboard and decide where you want it shown. Click Edit and make sure to click “Text”.

If you want it displayed after the content, press “enter” on your keyboard to provide space between your content and the link. Then paste the link there and make sure to click “update”. You then click “Visual” and you will see a yellow box. Then click “View Post” and you will see it on your website.
